Looking for all embellished and discontinued Police models

#1

Post by scorpion911 »

I only know the police model with stainless steel handle and I´ve seen one with one wood scale showing an inlayed eagle. How many different police models are existing? Where can I see pictures of the different existing police models? Where can I buy these models? Dealers or Private. What prices are regular for the different models?

Thank you

There is a G-10 handled Police still in production.
The current models just have the word "Police" on them, but some of the early ones had "Pride Integraty & Guts" on them. Gary Blanchard produced a custom Police which I think was a calabration with Spyderco, on the handle is an engraving of an eagle in flight.
As well as homegrown custom models the Santa Fey company (soz, no address) do quite a few custom versions of the Police, including wood, gem and bone handles.

Possibly a good place to keep an eye on would be E-bay. Just do a search on "Spyderco" and it should give you 5 or 6 pages of knives for sale including a few customs.

In addition to those, there are three versions of the ss Police that I can remember. The version after the Pride Integrity Guts had Police marked on the blade in black, then no markings, then Police with no coloring. In addition, there was a black Titanium Nitride version, and there were small runs done in the black for SEAL teams 1 and 3, which had their logos engraved on the butt end of the non-clip side. There's also my favorite, the ultimate Police Model, which was titanium handled with an ATS-34 blade, full serrated. That one was a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive, and as I recall was limited to 600. Spyderco marketed a regular production version with a 30/70 serrated blade the following year. That was at least 7 or 8 years ago. I beleive that in addition to the limited ATS-34 ones I mentioned, the originals used G2, later marked GIN 1 (same stuff), and the current ones are ATS-55. There may be more that I can't recall...I think I saw one from Santa Fe Stoneworks done in stone, and anothe done in wood, but that's going back a little too far for the memory banks at 11:20 p.m.!

Its all fun and games til somebody loses an eye, then its fun annd games you can't see.
