The non titanium version is availiable all over the place...roughly $100-110 will get you a NIB. ]http://newgraham.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=herbstsod wrote:I know it is no longer in production, I just thought I would ask.

Bah! Specify your requirements beforehand. ]http://www.osograndeknives.com/Spyderco ... inedge.htm Oso Grande claims to have it. I highly recommend you call to confirm however, as I find their service Oso Crappy.sod wrote:Plain edge is not in stock.

ebay seller! whoop whoop
Hi Sod, let us know how your ebay selling of the PE Herbst goes...pretty sneaky way you have been advertising your ebay sales on this forum over the last few years.
Although I can not offer concrete proof that you are the ebay seller red$ox the circumstantial evidence is mounting.
A quick study of your past posts shows that your last post dated 1/24 you asked about the ProVenator... the Deacon even gave you some pointers on ebay selling. At the same time red$ox suddenly sold a Provenator on 1/27. Today you come out of the blue and ask about the Herbst, same day red$ox suddenly is selling one. Looking even further back, every time you post on the forums (and that is very infrequently), you ask about some old knife and somehow, ebay comes up. Again circumstantial, but I have my eye on you... yeah I know, quaking in your boots. :p

I do believe my local has a plain edge herbst in stock... I'll check for you.

It would appear that you have much more time on your hands than common sense!
I do indeed have a knife for sale on a site mentioned by YOU not me. I was trying to set
A reasonable price for said knife, thus my simple question “Is the Peter Herbst still available anywhere?” Sorry, but there is nothing “sneaky “or underhanded in that question. If you had taken the time to ask why I wanted to know I would have gladly told you, saving you the time and energy of your investigation! I have set a fair price on my knife.
Your posting frequency does not entitle you to ”board police” status.

Then the question should have been; *What is a fair price for a PE Herbst?
* Not if it's available anywhere! Especially considering that you know that it's available cause you're selling it on ebay!

Common sense is indeed not very common!
Whether you are selling a car, a boat, a house or in this case a knife, it is in your own best interest to try to find out if others are offering the same product, and at what price. This affords you the ability to be more competitive in the market place.
I will phrase my questions as I see fit, not as you assume they should be written.

This forum is not intended for your once every couple months post so you can promote a knife you're selling!
Why don't you do a little research instead of being plain lazy! Zen was nice eneugh to give you 2 places of sale, yet you attacked him, and said he had no common sense!
FYI, if you would have told Zen that you are selling your knife on ebay, this thread would have been deleted!

Severed,
I totally agree with your "guys guys". If these folks want to bicker amongst themselves and vent so be it.
I'm far from: having the cleanest language, being Politically Correct or championing the disabled...but the graphic you posted doesn't belong on this forum. Spyderco doesn’t deserve it.
I assume that's not your child (running his heart out) in the "poster" with four letter language beneath him.

Thanks. Severed.
Believe it or not I found the fine print the least objectionable thing about the graphic.
It punches my buttons when people that are doing the best they can with the hand they've been dealt are poked fun at or used as negative examples. It gets under my skin even more when kids are the target.
While I agree with the premise that arguing is beyond getting your point out there is generally foolish, I don't think that it needs to be associated with someone's lot in life.
It's all a toss of the dice. You or I could have been in those races. We could end up having kids or grand kids running in races like that. Or we could fall off a ladder and end up in paralyzed or a vegetable a minute from now and not be able to run at all. It's all just a toss...
Thanks again for removing the graphic.

Hi Sod, I assure you it took much longer to type my hypothesis then the time it took to investigate. Thank you for being man enough to confirm my suspicions. The last guy I "outted" disappeared like a common cur with his tail tucked between his legs.
Forum Police? Hardly. Police have "powers", like the power to erase threads, ban people, change the color of the sky... Watch dog, maybe....Woof Woof! :p
You are correct in that it was me who first mentioned ebay and not you. In your past threads, you usually don't mention ebay until the second day, sorry to mess up your basic MO. You see, I don't appreciate the manner in which you conduct your business. You are not upfront about your objectives and basically just come on this forum to advertise your sales every few months. As you have stated, you are free to conduct yourself as you see fit. I just enjoy putting everything out on the table.
As far as thread count in concerned, it is meaningless. The are many salty dogs who have been here for eons with 1000s more posts but since the 2004 changeover everyone's counts went to zero. Not to mention, we don't worship those with thousands of posts. What a couple thousand posts means here is that someone has a vested interest in the community...it also may mean that person is a big loud mouth. Good luck on your auction, your opening price was extremely reasonable, assuming it was NIB. But who knows, maybe your ebay add copy is as flexiable with the truth as your forum questions.

Post counts are irrelevant. Some of us have a lot, some of us don't, some of us talk a lot(guilty as charged) and some will only post if they have something important to say. Most of us don't care how many(or few) posts each other has, we respect each other based on what we say, not how often we say it.
