To get back on topic. My 'one' spydie that I will never seperate from willingly, is the Li'l Temp. Generally I'm into the latest models, but the Li'l Temp is a peak in design and production that IMO hasn't been equalled yet. Plus, it's the knife that finally cured me from considering other brands or customs. It does everything well, and feels like a custom.
Other very dear knives are valued gifts from Spyderco, Jurphaas and Chad for example.
I see a lot of 'love' in this thread, lots of gifts going back and forth, nice to see -yet again- we got a real little community going on. :D
For me, all knife are replacable except:
-Subcom, a very unexpected gift with a lot of value for me
-Full sized Persian, for the symbol it represents to me...
No one has a plain old C-11 ?!?!? :D

WOW!! this is really great guys/gals>> the reason being is that when I started this thread yesterday I really thought that 7 or maybe 8 of you would have posted and might have sort of felt the same way I did. I am pleasantly surprised needless to say.
This is not a phenomenon that is exclusive to knife nuts as we are. Last summer my lifelong best friend died very unexpectedly. He died 3 days after I got back from the BLADE show. He was a Spyder collector with 48 and growing. The last Spyderco knife he wanted me to get him was a black KOPA. I couldn't find one at the BLADE Show but that evening when I got the news of his death I contacted a knife dealer I know who had one in stock. He sold it to me at bare cost because Chuck ( my deceased friend) and I had done some business with him.
When I got the knife I contacted the Great Spyder Factory and told them what happened. They engraved the knife with his birth & death dates. It was just simply a work of art when I got it back. I presented the knife to his brother & sister. They then told me that they thought it was fabulous way to remember Chuck ( and they are NOT knife afficionados at all). The very bottom line of this story was the fact that his brother said it was the VERY BEST of all of the momentos that people had given them to memorialize Chuck with. And they had a lot of stuff people had given them and again I say they are not fans of knives per se. The whole crux of this is that with them not even being knife people they still immediately saw a great significance in that knife that Chuck wanted. And they said they would cherish it until they died. They even made a presentation case for it. There truly is something magic about a great knife. I rest my case. I have really very much enjoyed your testimonies. I'd like to hear more if anyone has a story about how much a good knife means to you all. And Dialex I know exactly what you mean about getting the Spyder arsenal out and giving them routine examinations . It is a simple but joyous time when I do. JD

I brought my Caly Jnr from NGK, my first decent quality knife and first purchase from NGK. (I had a Wenger Esquire, a beat up CRKT KFF, a POS Gerber LST that wouldn't hold an edge, period)
My PMillie from Spyken has been in my pocket for quite a while now, and is my EDC when I can carry
Like others, the ones I cherish most are those that have either been gifted to me, or ones that were won in contests on this forum.

There’s also the Western hunting knife my parents gave me when I was about 14, and the first pocket knife I ever bought myself (an Old Timer Trapper). Then there is the Cammilus Electricians knife I have from my time in the Navy.
Of course, Every one of my hawkbills falls in the “cherished” category, and the CE Crossbill is probably the most common user.

All were chosen with some forethought, so they are all very much appreciated. My Scorpius and Meercat are favorites; but I love my Spyderhawk, Merlin, Matriarch, and Civilian so so so so so so much..
This is a tough one! Both my Crickets rock - my FRN being my deep hide for over 4 years.

But Sierra isn't it a great dilema to be in :cool: ? When the quality of your collection/EDC line up is that paramount isn't it nice to know that even if you got the wrong knife that you would still have a good one regardless :) . I know what you mean brother because everytime I go up to the wetlands to work I still try to find a Spyderhawk I lost there almost 2 years ago. I will never give up searching for it :spyder:

I misplaced a :spyder: once for about a day. Loosing a :spyder: is like loosing a friend. When it's a hawkbill... I don't even want to think about it.
