204 Sharpmaker

#1

Post by Qvar »

I hope this dosen't seem a silly question but could someone give me a reasonably accurate weight of the 204 Sharpmaker kit. Basically it's just to know for international shipping purposes.

On a different note I ordered my first Spyderco product today. It's the Spydercard, maybe you don't class it as a "real" knife but I think it's quite a neat looking device. Very much looking forward to getting it <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Here is the reply that I got when I asked this same question. (The box & packing must add to the weight of the 204 & video tape).
The UPS site also showed it at 3 pounds.

With regard to your recent inquiry to shipping charges:

The Spyderco Sharpmaker has a shipping weight of 3 pounds. This is significantly greater (three times) in weight than the average folding knife.

Thank you for using BestKnives.

Blade Walker you´re right. I was of the impression that the question involved just the actual sharpening kit and not the box, video tape and packing.

Wow, thats considerably heavier than I imagined it to be, I didn't really realize it included a video. I'm glad you mentioned that BladeWalker for another reason as it's made me think that there wouldn't be much point in getting it from the US due to the difference in the video/television set ups.

Maybe you could get the VHS tape converted to your local format at a video store.?.
It's a real good tape that flows along with the info in the manual.
IMO, it cuts the learning curve down to near zero.
If you have to make do without the tape, that just means you are going to have to really dig into the manual.
When we watched the tape, I had everything on the table in front of me. We would pause the tape, try duplicate what we saw etc..
My wife and I were semi-pros in an hour..

It's kind of dangerous to reach into the knife drawer these days! ;-)
Cheers,

I know the Sharpmaker video is available in several different formats. I have a PAL version which is the system used here. The only problem may be finding a retailer in the US who had the appropriate version. Or perhaps Customer Service could exchange it for you if you get the wrong one.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.
