As I'm not looking for one, I haven't contacted them to see if they are actually in stock. Just a heads up for the hawkbill fanatics among us :D

I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

$189.99?

That's just obscene, I'm not quite that desperate.....yet :o

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to email them to make sure they've got it.

Not that I can afford it anyway, but it'd be nice to know.

For what it's worth, I can vouch for the outfit that is selling them. They sell on eBay under the name "sunblades". I've purchased a number of knives from them there and their service has been uniformly excellent.

To put things in perspective, while their prices do seem high at first glance, consider that self-importing the PE Harpy, which is the only other way to get one since Spyderco does not choose to market them here, probably works out somewhere between slightly less and slightly more expensive when you factor in currency conversions, postage and insurance. The same would hold for most of the other "exotic" Spydercos they sell.

The ones they have sold on eBay, at least those I purchased, have gone for a fair bit less, so you always hope they'll put up another one and that the bidding does not push the price even higher.

I was seriously thinking about one, but I'd want to anodize it, and that would require disassembly, and that's a riveted model, so it would be quite a pain.

Not to mention I'm poor :p
