Time to make a PAINFUL decision...
I came to a terrible realization today: With trying to pay rent, pay off $4,000 in credit card debt in the next few months, and all other expenses I care not to think about, I must cut off my Spydie funds for the next several months or so. There will not be as many hours at work, and trying to cram in 4 math courses (each a 400 level class) this next quarter will not help.
BUT, this will not stop me from having one last HOO-RAH before I go on my Spydie starvation plan. I will buy 2 :spyder: 's, but thus far have been unable to decide which models to buy. It is here that I leave that decision youn’s, as it is now clear that I’ll beat myself over the head with it for another few months if I try to decide that alone.
On Thursday the 9th, I will place an order for the top 2 voted knives on the list, and thus will begin my dry spell. However, I vow here and now that my drought will end with the purchase of a C110 Lava!!!
The financial part of this decision was not made lightly, so I would be honored if youn’s would be a part of choosing my “last meal”… for a while, that is…
Please vote for no more than 2. Thanks,
-Jeff

Good luck bro
You've got a tough road ahead of you. Bills are bad enough, but when you have to deprive yourself of things you like, it just makes it even worse.
I've had that same problem before, and from personal experience, those last two you want to buy, are going to turn into more than that. My recommendation is to cut up your credit cards, and until they're paid off, don't ask for a new one.
If it's there, it will tempt you.
Now if only I could take my own advice...

[quote="zenheretic"]Sorry Bro, I didn't vote. I'm afraid I have to be a spoilsport and recommend you hold off until everything is paid off and you are back on track... ]
I did vote. However, I have to go with these wise words as well.
Take care.

Well, it's strictly a matter of personal prefference, but if I were in your shoes, for now I'd forsake the new ones that will most likely stay in the Spyderco offer for quite some time. They just released the Delica and Endura 4, so you'll be able to buy them later. I guess this applies to the Remote Release too and possibly to the Mini Manix..
Can't tell you the status of the Adventura, but there still are a couple hundreds pieces left, so probably you still have plenty of time to get one.

I voted, nevertheless, I think it is best to get rid of that credit card.

I have voted for the Adventura and the Delica 4, as I think they are the coolest :D
And good look on paying of the debt and I hope the cramming goes well...I will have to do that this summer

I voted on the adventura and the manix. But some times real life comes first and you've got to ask yourself if you really "need" any more knives. My thoughts are to pay off the credit card and just drool over the knives for awhile.
There ain't no rules around here. We're trying to accomplish something.

Same as the rest regarding the CC. I'd save for the "sprints", you can get any of the others later.
Didn't vote, I would go for a couple ZDP Delicas which "should" hit the market soon.

I would wait too for the ZDP Delica's (April) or the ZDP Jess Horn's (July). I did vote, but hadn't thought about these knives! Wait and get one of these!!

Hard to say without knowing what other Spyder's you got. I would say hold off till you get everything payed off but I can understand wanting to get a last purchase in.
And on that note I am only voting for 1 - The Adventura.
All the others you should still be able to buy AFTER you pay off everything.

What to do...
I have occasionally checked back in these past few days and taken a great deal of time to think about the decision I will make on Thursday, and I'm not talking about how to choose between the Delica and Adventura (which are tied for second at the moment).
On my left shoulder sits a little devil with a SE pitchfork saying "Buy 2 before you stop, and you can still get the ZDP Delica when it's released"
On my right shoulder sits the angel that says "just hold off and keep your eye on the prize"
Before this, much of my day was spent trying to decide what to buy. Now, many of you have come and offered wise words to me in regards to my decision, and to all of you I am inexplicably and eternally greatful. I now realize that there is a right decision to be made.
But it will not be the easiest, and there is still a long road ahead...
Thank you all,
-Jeff

Good luck, you made a good decision. You're a better man than I, I would have caved.uhiforgot wrote:Before this, much of my day was spent trying to decide what to buy. I just cleared out $7000 in credit card debt via my per diem check for a business trip overseas. It was tough handing over that money, but I gotta say it was worth it to be able to cut that 10 year debt leash around my neck and tell those card companies to close the accounts!
