looking for engraving pics
I'm getting my SS Dragonfly engraved and would like help...
option 1: "Morituros salutamus" engraved on the non-clip scale. That is latin for:"we salute you who will die" (or: we salute you who are about to die). I realize it's not something to engrave these days(death messages), but I've been looking for a place to engrave it.
option 2: picture
2.1: sword(scottish claymore) with an eye for the hilt. The eye was used by the Egyptians/Aztecs in history for the symbol of knowledge. I have scottish ancestors, and figured this would be a nice addition.
2.2: eagle in flight, claymore in talons. I believe I saw a pic of this before, but can't find it now. if anyone knows where I can get a pic of a bird in flight, sword in talons, I can alter it with the claymore. The eagle has been used in history to represent Power.
A later addition(2-3 months down the road), I'll be adding the druid symbol for victory. Hitler corrupted it for his own uses in WW2, but the actual meaning was lost.
The correct symbol is a double-S, gracefully done. Most often it was on a green or blue background, done in black, thin lines. it looks much like the pinwheel type of thing children do in grade-school.
The double-S will be engraved on the blade. I know this one will get done, but I would like opinions for the non-clip scale. Thanks for any help.
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Ave,
I always thought the sentence was "O Caesar, Morituri te salutant", but a quick check shows references to "morituri te salutamus" and even "morituri salutamus te". Better to check though before engraving your knife, because when "alea iacta est" ...

Ave, imperator, morituri te salutant.(gladiators' greeting to the emperor before the game)
Tha means: Hail, emperor, those who will die salute you.
So, morituri te salutant means those who will die salute you.
if you want to change the phrase in "we salute you who will die" (or: we
salute you who are about to die) the phrase becomes: Morituros salutamus.
I did my research in this about 2 weeks ago...
Just remember, Audaces Fortuna Juvatthat...
found one of the eagle pics, can add a sword...

Thanks for refreshing my Latin. If we should meet on a knife-fair we can "ad fundum" a drink together <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> .

Very heavy stuff indeed. Somehow this reminds me of the fact that for going on 35-36 years, have been considering getting a tattoo. While I was in Vietnam, I decided to do so. Strangely enough, it was a brief Latin phrase. Well, by the time I got home -- had found the phrase in a book I was reading on shipboard on the way to Nam, that page was torn from my memory.
Could one of you two Latin scholars please provide me the correct Latin phrase for, "Who Dares, Wins.'? I would truly appreciate it. It still is the only thing that I've considered decorating my body with, in all those years, that I think I would still like/appreciate 20-30 years down the line -- like I have a chance at 30! Just might get my tattoo after all these years.
The slogan came from some British outfit, possibly tanks, fighting in Northern Africa during early WWII days. Believe this was the outfit's motto.

J Smith> that was explained in my earlier post. The 2 are opposite ends of it.
One goes from the gladiator, and the other would be to a warrior. It's just a case of "to" or "from".
