Moose,
I'm on your side man. All these guys jumping on you for pulling a knife and being in trouble w/ the law; whats up ? And heaven forbid that your parents try to exercise some parental control, this is America man; you have rights. It's ok that throughout your
posts you have told us how to get around the law and that the law makes no difference and so on and so forth. Because you "have rights". You have 'told' your parents what you are going to do and tique even seems to have backed you up if you are over 18. I'm all for you Moose! You have stated that you are ready to take on the responsibility of being an adult. That's great, get w/ the program man....Are you still living in your parents home? If you are I would not put up with anymore of this BS , I would pack my bags and move out and get my own place and do EXACTLY what I wanted to. It is totally absurd that your parents should ask you to abide by any standards as long as you live w/ them and they provide for you. Cut em' loose man and provide for yourself, don't accept any help from them/food money/whatever; no big deal make it on your own. And I am sure you are paying for your own attorney anyway to represent you in your case, but should you not be; be a man; pay for it yourself. Don't accept any help from parents who don't understand you! I am all for you moose, good luck on your journey to 'freedom' !
Oh yeah moose, one more bit of unasked for advice. If you do not conform somewhat to the authority over you, whatever or whomever it is; society and life it's self will sooner or later enforce the restraints that are needed in your life. Usually they are not plesant! If you can learn by others mistakes and experience you are wise. If you refuse and learn it all thru your own mistakes and experiences, thats ok; but don't cry and whine about it when the road is much harder than it needed to be : Experience can be a very cruel taskmaster...
Think about it if you dare.............

alf,
I can tell by you attiude that your somewhat near the age of me maybe 15? While I'd like to do some of the things you mentioned in the first part of your post I have to realize is there still my parents. All I think is that they shouldnt tell me I cant have a knife. They cant simply tell me that after carrying a knife since I was five that Im going to all the sudden stop. And so I bought me a nice little Pegasus, I figure I just wont tell them about it, heh <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Moose,
You don't even have a clue "little boy".....
Good luck anyway though...you'll probably need it.
My tax money will probably be taking care of you too in a few years. If you live in Divide, Co. you should take a little trip down to the town of Florence, Co. just south of you. If memory serves me correctly there is a super max prison there. You should arrange yourself a tour, before one is arranged for you; so you can see what it is like. I'm not on your case, I don't even know you and most likely never will; but your attitude comes across as one that sucks.
I have dealt with kids whose attitudes have sucked in one way or another for over 25 years. Some have made good , some are the same , a lot of them are dead before their time because they thought they were "tough guys" who knew it all. Well the bottom line was that they did not know 'jack' about the real world and it ate them up.
Whether you are or not you come across that way. A life is a terrible thing to waste...
I do truly wish you good luck though and do hope you will consider some of my thoughts on the subject. I won't bug you anymore though........... this forum is not for that.
Truthfully,
alf

Ok, here is my experiences on the issue, however, I have been in this exact same issue. I am 20 now and go to one of the best schools in the midwest. I wouldn't be here without my parents. They are helping me pay my 20,000/year tuition and have provided me with much support. About 3 years ago, I got pretty serious with a g/f and mine and we spent alot of time messing around. My parents found out and threatened to kick me out of the house if I didn't comply with their rules. I had a good job then making about 10 dollars an hour(alot of money for a 17 year old). Anyway, I almost had an apartment picked out, but then for some reason, I changed my mind. I wanted college, I didn't want to be stuck working in this job forever without any chance to better myself. I swallowed my pride and really did make an effort to change my ways. I am glad I did. I could in theory have made it on my own, but I wanted more. Look, Moose, you are going to have to make some serious decisions that will make you or break you w/i the next 3 years. I don't know what the relationship is between you and your parents, but if it isn't that bad, stick it out. A knife isn't that important, especially if it isn't legal for you to carry one. I cant and don't want to tell you what to do. But think about what you are doing, before you do it.

Moose,
You have not offended me in any way. I am an "old fart" and it takes a lot more than that to offend me. In fact the very act of you being concerned that you might have offended me shows me that you have some 'CHARACTER'. You probably are a pretty nice guy. You can't be all bad if you like knives and have been carrying one since you were five. (ha-ha)
The things I said to you were true and I said them to try and simply make you think...not to be on your case.
Being on the wrong side of the law is not where you want to be, it might look glamorous but it is not. Usually for most people they don't get there by one big act. It starts with ignoring the small things and/or doing small acts they know in their heart is wrong. It is a progression that more times than not leads them where they don't want to be & never thought they would be. I hate to see young people / any person for that matter/ ruin there life in any way. I'm noy saying you are ruining yours.... but why even come close. You will make enough mistakes in life even trying to do your best(we all do and have), so it just makes no sense to me to bring more trouble on yourself by being at out w/ the law and your parents.
Anyway, I won't preach at you ..... Have a good one & if you ever want to talk you can email me. Good luck and do GOOD........
Sincerely,
