Top 3 Spyderco's For 2005

#1

Post by Stevie Ray »

Although I didn't start the "other" thread, I did put my 2 cents in, so I'm thinking we should go at the list from the other direction. :) What were your 3 favorite new Spydie models for 2005.

Here's mine:

1. 80mm Manix -- I've already said enough here, but ...great HD folder

2. Burgandy Calypso Jr -- This knife was truly a treat. I'm looking forward to the ZDP Delica

3. Spyker -- Great collaboration between Spyderco and Onion yielding a really good looking knife with great Ergos

Honorable mentions go to a 2004 design .. the Stretch ... Just because I like it :D

Good idea, here's my selection:

1) Burgundy Calypso jr. ZDP189

2) Poliwog

3) Ocelot, if not for the fact that it's finally here!

honorable mentions go to the Li'l Temp. in 2005 this knife finally gathered the popularity it deserved!

My three favorites of the year 2005 were as follows:

The Burgundy Calypso Jr. with ZDP-189
The Carbon Fiber Harpy PE or SE
The Yojimbo ( even though it was not a new intro in 05 but it was the one that made the biggest impression on me when I finally got one).

I look forward to 06. :spyder:

Ok, here are mine, in alphabetical order:

1. 75mm Persian -- Great companion piece for the C83. Looks great straight out of the box, and is the most "pimpable" of the 2005 :spyder: s

2. Adventura -- Been enjoying Alex's designs for about as long as I've been visiting the forums. Great to finally be able to hold on in my hand, even better that it was selected as the 2005 Forum knife.

31. Atlantic Salt -- Best version of the venerable Mariner/Rescue design yet. Traction grooves that are both esthetically pleasing and very effective on ramp and choil, 14mm thumb hole, nicely rounded hump, totally rustproof, and available in PE. What more could I ask (aside from "loose the dent!" :D )

Must admit though, that a 2004 design, the Stretch, still gets more carry time than any other :spyder: I own. :D

1. ZDP Caly Jr.
2. CF Harpy
3. Paramiilitary-not 2005, but really changed the way I look at a
knife :spyder: .

Thought I would add in the CF Military! I don't have this knife, but I see it as being a very important release, and hopefully just the first to use the Rough CF (inserting Para and Dodo sprint run request here :D ;) ).

1.) Any variation of the Kopa - It's running close to the #1 :spyder: of mine, right next to the Lil' Temp.

2.) Manix 80mm - Great design, it seems to me that it's better than his big brother.

3.) Burgundy Calypso Jr. - What can you said.....Great little folder. Well done this year, 2005....

Very good year indeed. Here's to a great 2006! :) :spyder:

Take care.

I don't remember if these were released just a year ago but my vote goes to the Cara Cara and the Crossbill. I'd considered on and off for years getting a Police or a Civilian. But when the Byrds were released, that made up my mind right away. They're fantastic.

My Favorites for '05'? Hmmmmmmm....:

The Adventura (Still Wicked Sharp)

The Poliwog

The Manix 80mm

I know this is definately not an '05' model (I got it in '05') but, I'll throw it in here with my list.............The SS Harpy. "WOW" what a :spyder: . This little :spyder: is turning into one of my EDCs. "Hawkbill Addiction" :D :D !!!!

God Bless :)

1. ZDP-189 Caly Jr. - I don't think I really need to explain why this is on the list. ;)

2. Persian 75mm - A little small for my hands, but the size of the blade is going to make A LOT of people happy, who couldn't carry the full size Persian due to it's lenth.

3. Adventura - It's an excellent design, thin, light, grippy, elegant, and it was our forum knife :D

I think the Burgundy CJ was the best knife to come out all year from any company. It gets the number one spot in my book.

Number two has to be the Ocelot even though I have not owned my own yet.

Number three: I initially though the Tasman Salt, but I think the D'Allara Drop point is more appealing to me personally. I don't have one of these either but I see one coming real soon. It just looks very good to me.
