Hey Michael, I was unable to pick up my Karambit as planned, I am preparing for an out of town trip, so I will be deprived until next week. The thing about the Spyderco model that stuck out to me is the lock. That is one of the drawbacks from my experience with some of the other folding Karambits. Very solid design.- Hey Raven as far as training in my neck of the woods, everything is strictly mandated. I have more flexibility when I train privately. Under both accounts, you know the burden of responsibility falls on the Instructor. I hesitated to recommend any product in the past, but the quality of material and engineering that Spyderco places in their products especially the MBC line (short of maybe highend customs) is impressive. I am trying to get an edged program implemented, but the demand is not where it needs to be because - let's just call it ignorance right now. That is a another topic!
Hey stonyman, I know the "Ignorance" you are talking about all to well. It is very unfortunate that it will take a fellow officer to get hurt or worse, before they realize, "Yeah maybe we need this training to survive". "Duh"!!! . I go through this, not matter what I'm Instructing at the time. I tell them time and time again, "Be Pro-Active........Not Re-Active". Because, as you and I know, without that training, when it does come time to react..........it may be to late. While we're preaching this, and they refuse to listen, the Bad Guys are becoming more skilled in those areas where we're lacking, and they are taking us apart on the streets. When that happens, well..............the finger gets pointed at us, WE HAVE TO TAKE THE RESPOSIBILITY for their Ignorance. We Can Teach Them Stonyman my brother...............but, we can't force them to Learn. It is a Battle and I FEEL YOUR PAIN, but we just have to keep on marching ahead, and realize, we can't teach the ones that don't want to learn, but the ones that do......we can walk away knowing and having the satisfaction that they will be confident in their skills and will survive out there. Those are the ones that will be the EYE OPENER for us. Take Care Brother, and Remember the Lord has our 6.
God Bless :)
