Jotsingh Khalsa

I love this :spyder: ! I guess MSRP was pretty high on these, or liscensing.
Anyway, what are these worth thes days?
I picked one up with the clip ripped out, and don't want to "customize" it if it would be worth a lot of $ in the future. It's SE, and other then the clip, looks to be in 98%, if not 99%.
I want to repair the area that the clip was (will be really easy), then re-mount the clip tip up. This will make it sort of wave open; I've tried this in my watch-pocket and it works just fine.
I could also drill the old holes into the liner (they were just in the micarta), and make it like new.
What are some opinions, please.
Thanks,
---Tom
PS, I havn't been around cause I've been sicker then I have been in years for over a week, I'm still trying to kick this thing. :( I hate being sick, but then, who doesn't)

Go for it :D

It's your knife now, and it's already not mint since the clip ripped out, so any future value it might have is already shot anyway. You've got nothing to lose.

I say customize it, but if you do that, be advised that pictures will be necessary. ;)

Hello Rainman, sorry to hear you have not been well. I hope things look up soon.

When you say "ripped" out, how much of the micarta was damaged ? If only the threads, you may be able to repair this with a slow setting epoxy. But use a good brand, such as JB Weld.

Alternatively, look for another one with, say, a broken blade, and rob the back scale from this one. I know the chances of finding a Jot with major damage are slim, but you just never know.

Cheers

Thanks I think I'll be 80% by Wed.
The micarta looks almost like someone just removed the screws (except that there is a tiny amount of chipping). The scews were not tapped into the liner. I realize that it is a fine line getting the screws to "just" go into the liner, but not so far that the blade wont open :D ;the holes stop at the liner.
I will either dye some epoxy-like-sustance; or use JB Weld
Thanks all,

Comeback possibility?

This is one model I am surprised that I did not see mentioned in the "Comeback Candidates" thread. I would love to see the Khalsa back in S30V. Also make it available in colored Micarta Handles.

This knife almost makes me think; that's what the Gunting must have looked like when he was a kid :D

Aloha rainman,

Prayers sent to you my friend...you WILL get better soon.

I can't see it happening. It is a cool little knife but not as useful as just about any other :spyder: . There are so many others that would be better in a Sprint run resurrection.
If one was to read all your posts JD, one might get the impression that you are a rabid Spyderco fan. :p I surmise it would be difficult to find any model that didn't have the phrase, "all time classic", "comeback candidate", or "better than the stock market" somehow linked to it... ;)

Not True

#13

Post by JD Spydo »

No that's not true. Here is a list of Spyders that I don't care if they ever bring back or not. Delica, Endura, Terzuola, Pro Grip, Goddard, Pro Venator, Michael Walker, Q, D'Alton Toad, Pegasus, Meerkat, Vesuvius, ATR, Salsa, Spydercard, Kiwi, Assist II. I could add several to that as well. There are a lot of Spydercos I like; but don't love. You have probably only ever heard me say that statement about 12 to 14 models. Just ask Walter Kronkite if you don't believe me  :spyder:
