Well, sticking to just regular production items, I would say that the P.I.G. engraved original Police Model is a rare one.
Mine is a near mint plain edge version and it is the only PE one I have ever seen.
The rareness of this folder comes not only from the low number made but also from the fact that after 20 years there are probably not many that survived. Remember, back in the day we used folders instead of hoarding them! :)

Click on this link then click on Spyderco, then go to page four of the listings. Both serrated and plainedge are listed at 14850 yen. There's G10 Harpys listed there too.

Very, very interesting 4077th. I have heard from more that one person that both the G-10 Police and G-10 Harpy are both still available over there. One G-10 Harpy I got in a trade came in a while box with Japanese writing on it.

I still think these 2 Titanium Handled Spyderco, Peter Herbst models I have are very hard to come by. Although I don't here nearly as much fanfare about them that I did about a year ago. Even the Aluminum Peter Herbst models aren't showing up nearly as often as they did 6 months ago. I truly think the Ti Herbst are a hidden treasure ;) :spyder:

Rare these days due to age and use. A mint or near mint SS economy Standard with the integrated clip has become very tough to find.

Very true Steve,

By the same token, dead mint examples of the original 2 screw Worker, 1st Generation Mariner and Paramedic are also be hard finds, as those knives tended to be purchased by users, rather than collectors.

Do find it kind of ironic that with all our lust for "limited editions" that some of that run of 250 PE C14s I mentioned previously are still available from both NGK and GPK.

Speaking of the rare ones, I've been watching a PE SS Harpy on ebay for a few days, and it just ended at $207.50!!! I was going to go for it, but would have ran up the budget on something else I have in mind ;) . What's the most you've seen one of these go for?

Yeah Axlis that is a strange one. I had been watching that one myself. I would have went after it but if you read the description they even admitted it had scratches and that it was G-2 blade steel. IF I'm going to pay that kind of change I want a better blade steel than that; thank you.

You can blame me for that one. :o I was trying to snag that one for a friend, but unfortunately was not able to give up anymore cash.

Maybe even less, I've heard only 90.

Would love a definite answer on this though, the curiosity is killing me.

Truly a rare piece. But from what I understand, they were never offered for sale. Rather they were given out by Sal as gifts. Can't speak for anyone else, but for that reason I tend to lump them in with prototypes when questions of rarity arise.

Rycen, the PE SS harpy is also available in VG-10 in Japan I have seen a couple for sale here in the US but wasnt able to pony up the cash as for everyone else talking about what a PE SS G2 harpy is worth well its worth what someone is willing to give up for it I just got rid of mine that was scratched to **** and someone had butchered the edge for a poliwog and 70$ thats about 170$ so that price for a never carried one is fair IMO

Aaron
come on everyone lets try and get Sal to bring back the Q!!!

Yes .. I guess I do. Interesting enough, I've had a couple of these in my collection over time, but rare or not, I have sold or traded them.

I think that Deac is the happy new owner of one of them. ;)
Oh, is the big Caly also rare, isnt it? I think there were total SE+PE only 1200 made, but they are not seen very often. Ok, I am maybe not right, I dont think myself as an "afi" at this playground LOL ;)

Aloha dgg,

I'd have to add that one of the rare ones was one I HAD:

Co-Pilot w/ Brass Liners!

That one now lives in Cali w/ a good brother of mine. ;)

God bless

I guess I'm too much of a "latecomer" to know that one. Would you please elaborate on that one? I've also heard of a Dino Bone Spyder as well?

A couple more very rare ones are the forum Military with just 100 or so made and the factory first forum Vesuvious with only 70 or 80 being sold as factory firsts.
The CF Military is going to be one of the all time greats as well.
