Spyderco Military

#1

Post by denny »

I got a military a little while back and have been carrying it a lot lately it is a great knife. I was a little put off by the liner lock before handling it, but it locks up solid and has no play in any direction, it is a must have spyder if you are right handed. I have waited to buy it in the past always opting for what was newly released but after holding it at the knife show I had to buy it. Now I must have a paramilitary. Now I see why the military has its devoted fans on this forum.

The Para is simply my favorite folder. I get extremely annoyed when people mention that the Para has a bad blade-to-handle ratio. I love the larger handle of the Para, you can grip that thing and nothing will get it out of you hand. Or, you can use the finger choil to control the blade quite precisly, and I rarly ever come acoss somthing that the Para's 3" blade can't cut, that a 4" blade can. Because of my Para, I won't purchase a knife without a finger choil. You can take the Paras large handle and hold by the finger choil to do the most detailed cuts. I buy other knives, but keep going back to EDCing the Para.

IMO the Military is still the best knife Spyderco ever made and the Paramil comes veeeery close.

Since my Military is on a sharpening trip :( , Im currently carrying my Paramil.

It's just the way Axlis says: If you love the Military you'll love the Paramil too. ;)

I love the Military but not real fond of the Para.
Got my preorder in for one of the CF Militaries and can't wait.

Spydutch, I also have the fully serrated is the plain section of the para as long as the plain on the military. I like having the long plain tip on the military I use it quite often for opening stuff.

Denny, I just measured the plain section of the blade on my SE Para to be 13/16". I too, think that the plain front section of the SE blade is very useful. I hope that this helps.

I'd rather be tried by 12, than carried by 6.
