G-10
was until I received the Kumo. The stingray skin with the epoxy dipped nylon cord really feels good in my hand (will not slip) and looks great! :)

I like G10 for it's toughness, grip and relatively light weight.

I like G-10, CF, FRN, Ti, SS and some woods. I've heard some nice things about lignum vitae, but have never seen it. Can anyone post a pic that shows lignum vitae?

Thanks,
Thomas

Hello Wouter...I noticed that you like the metals for top choice. I believe you mentioned you are a butcher by profession (correct me if I'm wrong) If this is true do you prefer the metals for butching or do work knives differ from carry knives for you? I would think the metal wouldn't be fun in a cold butcher's shop and get slick from the gore.

this is a tough list for me..
1. micarta (for looks) certain woods also (quincewood has my eye.)
2. G-10 (for useful grippyness)
3. bald metal (for looks again)
4. frn (love it for its light weight and tough nature, but doesn't look as good)
5. other woods
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.

Stainless
Cocobolo
Micarta
Jigged Bone
G-10
CF
FRN
Cellulite

Can't beat SS for durability... Though for appearance sake, the Cocobolo is tied for 1st. Hard to beat a clean grain for appearance. My favorite knife is still my first custom(5160, cocobolo scales, copper bolsters and pins), followed closely by the cocobolo kopa and ss 'fly tied for 2nd. Zowada and lil temp are still fighting over 3rd place.

2. Micarta
3. Inlaid MOP in whatever frame; doesn't matter.
3. G-10
4. SS
5. FRN

G-10 is my material of choice, followed by laminated CF, then metal (Ti alu SS). Personally I don't like FRN, it feels cheap and tacky to me.
