or just drop it into a pocket.

people on knife forums severely overestimate how much of a difference low ride clips etc. make.

I've been a security guard at many different types of venues. You're not fooling anyone.

What venue doesn't pat you down anyway? Most places you're emptying your pockets out. I'm talking about more for people who just like to not stand out in public or at work. Some laws require the knife to be completely hidden too.
Plenty of bars, concert halls, churches and other places I've done security for don't do pat downs or metal detectors.

Guess I am a dinosaur cause I got to have my large blade pocket Knives, and I don't carry just the one either. They can just arrest me, I ain't running, so they are certainly going to catch up to me lol...

Then for those places that you absolutely can't carry a pocket knife like mine, I will just avoid going in all together. I am not going to miss much. Just being a dinosaur here lol.

I've probably been to 1000 concerts and I've never been to a venue that didn't pat everyone down. I've been to some real crappy hole in the wall hardcore shows where the guy patting you down is probably a roadie but they still made everyone turn out their pockets and they pay you down. You could probably sneak something in if you really wanted. Regardless, there's a contradiction for every point made. I just try to not give the authorities a reason to even notice I'm there.

Fortunately, Spyderco offers enough variation in their pocket knives that most of us can find a model with the features that best meet our individual needs.

I am not trying too fool anyone. It seems that you might have completely misunderstood my previous post on this subject. I am looking for another, small, entirely legal, discreet, EDC folder, sometimes called a “gentleman’s” folder, a cutting tool, not a weapon that I want to smuggled past rent-a-cops at music venues :-)

For example, my 3” Sage 2 has been filling that EDC role since it was released, but I am thinking about replacing it with a newer folder that features the compression lock that I prefer instead of the RIL that was featured on the Sage 2.

Something around 3” in length is generally big enough to cut what I need to regularly cut without scaring the neighbors too much while doing it, which is what I mean by”small,” and “discreet.”

That's a lot of irony smuggled into a single paragraph :rofl

That's wild you're upset enough to try to insult me because I made a comment about the pocket clip of your folding knife, lol.

I have a PM2 and PM3 with the Compression Lock. That lock works well for me, but have no experience with the Button Release Compression Lock. Does the latter introduce any reliability or durability problems due to additional parts?

For folders, less than 3" is too small and greater than 4" is too big. IMO 3.5" is perfect. The PM2 is perfect.

That sounds like a good excuse to experiment with a Light Weight PM2. Thanks, I think. :-)

As a general rule, I try to avoid all places that are considered dangerous enough to require the security guards, metal detectors, and pat downs.

Likewise. Best way to avoid trouble is to try to not to go places where you're likely to find it.

Unfortunately can't tell from experience, I only got the rex121 sage 5 for the steel as I like larger knives. But I didn't see any issue reports regarding the button actuated compression lock :)

Thanks. I haven’t heard about any problems with the button actuated compression lock either, but it’s new feature, so thought it was worth asking the question.
