Do wonder if these sell out, eventually. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of hype on it.

They absolutely will sell out in time but may take a bit, at least that's my guess.

I remember a BHQ M4 Shaman that stuck around forever, it I think it was $250+.

With this Sage, no matter how nice it is, the price tag I think will slow the sales down a bit. The funny part is though, by the time it's gone, people will pay a fortune on the second market wishing they got it on the drop.

I wasn't aware of this knife being offered until I read about it on this forum on Tuesday. I subscribe to the SMKW newsletter, so either I missed it or they were slow to inform. I purchased the knife yesterday morning and it arrived 24 hours later. FedEx dropped it off right before lunch today. I own several Sage 5's including the G10 Spy27, Salt and original carbon Fiber/G10. Love the knife. I was going to pass but really wanted the knife in Titanium. So I purchased it. Out of the box it is just perfect. I love the color of the Spyderco titanium models. I know there is some confusion surrounding is it a Sage 5 LW or not. Honestly, without taking it apart, I cant really tell. Weight wise, without measuring, it feels very close in weight to the Spy27 G10 model. The G10 is lighter, but they are close enough that it is hard to tell without weighing. If you are having doubts, I say go for it. It is a beautiful knife and the titanium just enhances the appeal.

I agree it is very funny how often it happens. That's why it's always better to pick it up now at it's cheapest if you have the money; you can always sell it later and make your cash back if it's as rare as this piece will end up being. I do not ever plan on selling my OG Slysz Bowie, but I know I could easily make my money back because it's so rare now.

Hi Jedicosmonaut,

Welcome to our forum.

The Sage s an interesting design. It fits the 3.0" blade length and was designed more than 20 years ago, but it slowly gains in popularity, even after having been around for long time.

It is nice to see another titanium Sage!

My Sage 2 celebrated it's 14th birthday this year. It was my most carried knife for a number of years.

Still have mine, purchased when it was introduced. I remember it being discussed here as a sort of Spy-benza at the time. :bug-red

A great knife, a quiet over-achiever. I've got the TIP, the GBL and the Rex121 and Maxamet Sage 5 variants. Big thumbs-up.

Oh, I thought it was a framelock ! I read a lot of posts about it, and never saw the 5 there.

Dang, now I might need to import from the USA again, I was trying to stop, or at least heavily slow down...

Just wait for the Sage 6 variants I have 2 and like them much better than the 5 which I own a few of. Titanium is well so yesteryear it will come again.

I look at this and think “this is interesting”.
I look at the price and think “it’s not that interesting”.
Oldest: 1974 Buck 110.
Newest: Native 5 Salt, FRN, LC200N
Knives owned: Too many, yet always finding another.
Added a ceramic mug, "The Edge is a Ghost". Great mug!

I was carrying my Sage2 in S30V with Titanium scales and Reeve Integral Lock today. The combination of smooth Titanium Scales and wire clip makes it very pocket friendly compared to G10.

The smooth scales make it easy for to reach past the knife, deeper into my pocket, to remove my keys with scraping the skin of the back of my hand. I imagine the SMKW exclusive Sage 5 would be similar in that respect, but be easier to close with one hand.

Lightweight titanium framelock? I don't think so.

I cannot think of one of my titanium knives being lighter than their "G10-with-steel-liners" counterparts.
Seems unlikely. My Sage2 with titanium scales and RIL weighs 3.4-3.5 ounces about the same as my PM3 with G10 scales.
