I'm pretty sure I saw earlier this morning that the liners are not coated, so maybe I'm way off on the hardware being Salt related. Maybe BHQ just thinks it looks cool 🤷🏻‍♂️
You’re totally right David, the liners aren’t coated! Why on earth the satin ones have black screws is beyond me. Great, now if I want one, I need new scales and new screws!
Feel the same way, decent looking knife, but the Satin would look much better with all satin hardware.

Very sad to see such a mismatched and botched exclusive. Especially when it's such an easy fix to make it right!!

I'm fine with coated hardware and satin blades. Bought plenty of Pacific Salts in that configuration.

The way I see it, it's a functional improvement, because the hardware resists corrosion better.

But Please, BHQ, stop running these with satin finished liners.

I returned my DLC M4 Yojumbo because of that.

Sad to see it's still happening.

One of the draws of DLC Spydercos is enhanced corrosion resistance. By not coating the liners, you're making the knife require more maintenance from me.

Please go back to coating the liners of DLC M4 sprints like you did in the past.

Well, that's.. your opinion. I doubt BHQ is going to share it when they sell out of them in a couple days! :zany Hah, I actually kind of like the dark hardware contrasting against the jade g10.. to each their own I guess..

I've always thought that Spyderco made a mistake pigeonholing Magnacut into the Salt line.. sure it has the awesome corrosion resistance, but it's also such a great all-round steel, why limit it from other variations? Idk? I'm ok with the steel existing on knives that aren't just yellow & black..

Yea I think for me, I'm a simpleton haha. Unless it's some kind of fancy scaled knife, I like my blade/hardware/clip to always match and then whatever for the scales. The mismatching just makes my eye twitch a bit :winking-tongue

That's why I ordered the DLC version.... it all matches. ;)

Yep! Great knife, I had the original with the DLC M4.

No need to beat around the bush on this one, as stated in other threads it's just pure laziness and cost savings to use the same hardware on both, period. There is no other reasoning that makes sense.

Using coated hardware is standard practice for all of their Salt models now.

Aren't the liners satin on the DLC version as well?

I get that. Honestly, my preferences generally tend to lean more towards simple, too.. have more satin-bladed, black-handled knives than I'll ever know what to do with, but given the choice, that's usually what appeals to me more than fancier options. Occasionally though, I'll see something crazy like a jade-scaled Para 3 with black hardware and kinda like it haha!

Do I understand correctly that satin liners equals not salt-level corrosion resistance, thus this being a normal Para 2/3 with Magnacut?

No, this is still a Salt model even though the liners are not coated.

Based on what? You're the only one saying that without anything to back it up

Based on the well established fact that Spyderco doesn't use Salt steels outside of their Salt series. It's that simple.

Also, the hardware is coated, as per their standard for all Salt models.

Ok, so You, the Absolute Oracle, say so...

So it's not a salt model, weird decision to have just the screws and tube coated and liners and/or blade not. As many noted, not that great aesthetically speaking
