Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2026 Report
I think the 50:th anniversary is a collab with Werther's. At least i get a craving for them whenever i see a pic of the Native :)

If the 50th Anniversary Native is even remotely affordable, I'm in (if I can get one). The MuntjaX looks really nice, but possibly hard-to-get and expensive. And I already have way too many fixed blades as it is, so that one's probably a no. None of the Smock- and Kapara-like models appeal, since I've never been crazy about the original models. The WolfMouse looks fun in the same way the P.I.T.S. folders and the Technos are. I love the looks of that big fillet knife, but unfortunately the fish I catch can be handled with a much smaller knife, the Shelter Cove for instance. All in all a nice reveal, but nothing that really blows my mind save that gorgeous Native.
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2026 Report
The MuntJax is so good in hand. But yeah, might be a bit too steep for me, even if it is a flash batch that is very interesting.
For me, the fact that it comes from Sheffield is really cool and brings a lot of value !
Between the new folder designs shown here, the Wolfmouse is the one I prefered. I wasn't convinced until I held it. Then, it was hard to put it back down on the table

Its plain cow bone according to Eric.Evil D wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 8:26 amThose last couple models saved this from being the year of the blunt tipped knives
I think I'm in for the 50th Native. Someone in a FB group said the orange scale inlays are bone, is that something anyone can (safely) confirm if it's not still a secret? If it is then keep it to yourself and I'll just wait and see, it won't deter me either way.

It's dyed that color as well.apollo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 5:28 pmIts plain cow bone according to Eric.Evil D wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 8:26 amThose last couple models saved this from being the year of the blunt tipped knives

The fixies are of special interest this year. I can’t imagine what that 50th Native is going to cost.Thanks Wouter!

Indeed and remember that Eric said that apparently the factory floor looks like a bloody and dusty butchershop because of it.Mushroom wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 5:56 pmIt's dyed that color as well.apollo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 5:28 pmIts plain cow bone according to Eric.Evil D wrote: ↑Mon Mar 09, 2026 8:26 amThose last couple models saved this from being the year of the blunt tipped knives

Talkin' story on the Muntjax;
When Gail and I were in Sheffield, getting a CATRA machine, we were aware of much of the history of the knives made in Sheffield and the Knife Industry there as a whole. We could only find a few custom guys, which we thought good that they are carrying the spirit, but in the back of my mind, I had hoped that we might be able to do something in Sheffield. That was about 25 years ago.
While on the British forum, I discussed with the afi's there the possibility of "growing up a custom maker into a small factory. I was give a few names and recommendation. I then began to communicate with them for the possibility of a future project. Stuart was interested and had the skill we needed.
The project actually took years to bring to reality, but a knife made in Sheffield, by a Sheffield knife maker with a British steel, I felt was worth the effort for all of us. So Stuart has been great. He works mostly with the staff now, but in the early days, it was midnight oil.
We hope all of you enjoy the effort. Don't know where we're going from here as the steel is no longer made in England. Don't know if Stuart is in for more? But it was a long and winding road for many or us to get this model to you.

The Small Kapara is very appealing! It felt nice in the hand and the action was great when I handled it at the meet.
