Great to hear!Red Leader wrote: ↑Mon Feb 02, 2026 1:11 pmI heard that the 15V PM2 LWs are currently being made, but they need enough to send out to all retailers at the same time. We should be getting close.

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
Got to handle the Button Up today. The model wasn’t really of interest to me, and I generally don’t pursue the Chinese Spydercos and I’m not a big fan of plunge locks. But I do always enjoy seeing and handling new models.
I think it will do well. They did a good job getting the detent to feel close to a ball style, even if it has just a little more grit in it. The button had just a tiny amount of stick (which for a plunge lock I think is good). Surprisingly lightweight. No metal liners. Surface of the G10 was peel ply in nature and felt good. Blade was centered, and had no play up, down or sideways. Lockup was excellent.
In hand, it felt like a slightly longer, straighter Para 3.
The spine had some nice chamfering, but the lack of jimping on the back of the blade is going to make or break some people on this one. I would have preferred jimping.
I came away impressed for what it was, and I can imagine the various wear and contact points smoothing up over time. A lot of these points had a thick grease instead of oil, which I found interesting. I wonder what maintenance will look like on this model.

Still a little curious if anyone knows why BladeHQ ended up with this instead of Knifeworks?
But either way, nicely done from Spyderco.

Very interesting. This might be the first instance of a dealer exclusive combo "changing hands".
Also interesting, I found this old listing on Country Knives that as far as I can tell is the same Military 1 but they say it's a Sprint.

My recollection and Spydiewiki both say it was an exclusive so Country might just be off on this one.Evil D wrote: ↑Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:31 am

On exclusives changing hands, I think there was some speculation that the St Nick's Rex76 Shaman might not have originally been their order? But yeah, not quite the same as a well established pattern showing up at a new dealer.

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
It appears that Knifeworks still has the Para 3 LW and Shaman 204P exclusives in stock. Maybe they decided that they couldn't afford to sit on a slower selling model, like the Military 2, if the "hot" models aren't selling
My collection is ever-changing, with knives coming and going constantly.
Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
It has been my understanding that dealer exclusives have to be ordered and paid for *in advance* - whether partial or full payment I don't know - and that the orders tend to run years in advance.
Is it possible that KnifeWorks sold this run to BHQ rather than wait to recoup from retail sales?

I have heard the first part too.
The second part, I have no idea, but it seems like they could if they wanted to.

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
Orders are placed many years in advance but dealers are not always required to pay in advance. In this case, they didn't. They placed the order then backed out after it was too late to halt production and BladeHQ was able to purchase the run.

Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
Wow, Nick, you've become quite the insider.
Re: Spyderco Delivered and Upcoming *discussion*
Thanks, Nick!
I guess the next question is whether or not they have given up that particular exclusive combination of steel and colorway or just bailed on that one order.

And just who is this Mushroom anyhow with all this insider knowledge that keeps coming ing out?
A Spyderco employee?
Maybe Eric himself?
Hmmm, morning ponderings...
