best movie of (the past month of) your life...
I enjoyed Sin City. The effects were great and the story lines were ok. I wasn't blown away by it, though. I did really enjoy Constantine, a lot more than most of the critics did. I wouldn't dare analyze it from a current theological perspective, but I don't generally analyze comic books on that basis anyway.
I watched a 6 episode British TV series called 'Neverwhere', based on a novel of the same name by an author named Neil Gaiman. Slightly better effects than the later Dr. Who episodes but fairly close to the book and an enjoyable watch, none-the-less.
I feel that films based on comic books, while they should be judged on the same cinematical basis as any film, have to be given a bit more leeway in the areas of realism and logic. I don't remember too many comic books, particularly SF or fantasy fiction, that I could call realistic... :) My $0.02.

I loved this film! Great effects, great storyline.
I have the movie poster hanging in my family room. A bit creepy perhaps, but very cool.

Are your refering to Sin City or The Machinist?... Either way, I wouldn't have a poster of neither one of them in my living room

I will have my dvd rental guy order it, as he orders everything I ask him too. We have the same taste in asian movie, altough I prefer horror movie a la Ringu like "The Eye", and he prefers weird stuff like "The suicide Club" ...
Thank for the pointer Daywalker...

Best movie of the last month was IMO the sci-fi called "The Island" with Evan McGregor. Very good action. I have also seen Zatoichi some time back, was a good one. Had also the "azumi" in my notebook, but IMO its a total crap. I hate seing old one-shoot guns shooting in a speed of Glock 18C. I also liked Tiger and Dragoon movie.

I think that our very own Hannibal was refering to the movie "Constantine" with Keanu Reeves. Kinda creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy that one is.

Uh...there's Azumi II out already IIRC. Pretty good movie. Also try: Storm Riders (Sony Chiba in a Chinese Sword fighting movie with COOL effects!) as well as "Man called Hero"...Er, no "Ringu" for me man. I got a forest in my backyard and I do not need to see some water-logged corpse walking in it!
OBTW, I forgot to add that within the past month I saw "Million Dollar Baby". Oh that movie's ending pissed me off! I wish they had an alternate ending for it.

God bless

Aloha guys!
I would have to say Constantine ( Mr reeves cannot act, this one is an exception) and Sin City. I'm a fan of Frank Miller, so this one was on the must see list.

:spyder: Serenity, the Firefly movie. Space cowboys, guys, what's not to love! Orson Scott Card called it the best science fiction movie he's ever seen! :spyder:

BTW, Space Truckers sits on the same chair as Plan 9 from Outer space, without the Mythologie...IYKWIM

Right now, I'm on the last epesoide of "Into The West". It's kind of like the 70's mini-series "How The West Was Won" with James Arness. I count mini-series as just longer movies.
If you guys really want to get into a movie, check out the mini-series "Amerika". I showed it to my parents, and they didn't want to stop watching it to go to bed, so they stayed up half the night. At 13 hours, it can keep you occupied for some time.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Sin City is one of my favorite movies, but i saw that on the big screen and bought it when it came out. So for the last month, i didnt count it. Same goes for Kung Fu Hustle, i thought i would hate this movie, but i actually like it. Go figure.
The other night at work i was talking about Christian Bale, and one of my co-workers told me that if i like his movies to check out the Machinist, so as soon as i get some spending money i will.

I am a bit ashamed to confess that the best movie I've seen was a cartoon (Ice Age) :o It happened this weekend with my boys :D If you're into cartoons, you shouldn't miss "Ice Age" or "Robots". Chris Wedge is a genius.

lets see... movies watched in the last month...
fight club, boondock saints, the machinist, suspect 0, kingdom of heaven, equilibrium
still say Boondock Saints is the best movie ever made, though Equilibrium is a close 2nd.
