What would be your dream knife?
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Love the Defense Delica idea. Tad smaller Canis in lightweight version with wire clip.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
The 4" backlock polestar will be hard to argue against... (hopefully linerless FRN
)
Re: What would be your dream knife?
The Para Military 2 Black Lightweight is an incredibly light and well-balanced knife!
I'd really like to see a Calypso 3.5 - 4 in the Lightweight style.
Calypso is Leonardo da Vinci's favorite knife.

Stradivarius played homemade violins...
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Just received the crucarta Native, it's pretty dreamy. With the clip off, it will compete with the fluted CF Native and the Maple Chap as my goto urban EDC.
Now, how about a 3.5" version?
Now, how about a 3.5" version?

This knife is so good I seriously consider buying a second one as a backup.DavidNM wrote: ↑Tue Dec 02, 2025 8:55 pmI pretty much have my dream Spyderco knife already, it is a Lil’ Native Backlock with 15v blade steel. If I was to change something them maybe make the handle scales out of that purple G-10 from a few years ago or the dark blue G-10 being used on the new line of knives with SPY27 blade steel.
The Lil' Native Backlock is a great design anyways, too bad it has been discontinued.

Not too far off, which is my favorite knife. My only complaint with the S2XL is how far my grip feels from the edge behind the choil. The polestar looks to eliminate that problem.BornIn1500 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 23, 2026 1:29 pmSounds like the Stretch 2 XL would be nearly identical, right?

A Native-sized Bodacious Salt in smooth contoured G10, with a midbacklock or ball lock, for doing work. A Caly 2.5 in Magnamax and contoured CF (like the Kapara) for being fancy.

Dream knife right?
Something completely new.... a Golden USA made Titanium Frame Lock, Hollow Grind, 8" overall length or so, 3.5" blade, and a premium blade steel of Spyderco's choice, stainless or tool? Phosphor Bronze bushings, and maybe in a Sheepsfoot blade style, (Insingo) if you will. Solid spoon clip, NO wire! And a hardened Frame Lock insert.
Something shape wise that maybe favors either / or / both the Gayle Bradley 1 or 2.
Yeah that's a nice dream!

Re: What would be your dream knife?
A Sage Salt with Magnacut blade and Ti handles with integral compression lock like the old ATR would be the ultimate high strength lock with minimal maintenance.
But more than that, I'd love a Sage with SPY-27 or Magnacut blade, G10 handles, and Demko Shark Lock. I really like the Shark Lock. Much like Spyderco's CBBL, the Shark Lock is ambidextrous, has strong self close action, the reliability of using a coil spring. But the Shark Lock is far easier to disassemble for maintenance than the CBBL. Unfortunately, all the mass produced Shark Lock knives lack Spyderco's ergos; have those silly, material snagging sharpening notches; and run on bearings rather than a shouldered pivot with PB washers. Demko has already done a Shark Lock collab with Flytanium. The Demko production models (and the Flytanium collabs) are made by an OEM on the little island of Taiwan, just like the Spyderco Sage models. The Sage is supposed to be a showcase for different locks from around the knife world. Sal & Eric, please make this happen.

A PM2 with a stretch-style saber-grind instead of a flat grind. DLC coated.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
OK I'll update my old post a bit .
First I think I said I wanted my custom made black Grivex handled Urban Trapper (see image below) to have a REX 121 thin blade by Phil Wilson and that would be my Dream Knife .
Now that I have tried the REX121 (and learned more about that alloy) (see the Cobalt Blue handled Sage , it has the 121 blade swap ) I'm thinking maaaayyybee the K390 is more my kind of blade steel ((( or M4 would be just fine ! ! ! ! for me actually))) . Those two alloys are a bit more tough , at the edge and for a thin blade . The blade HAS GOT TO BE THIN ~ 2mm at the spine.
Now that I have the Slym I could for sure go for that handle shape ; but it MUST have the rubber handle and the jimpping on the spine of the handle . See second image .
By the way the Black Grivex Urban Trapper is carried in the belt pouch ; wet formed to the knife so it "clicks" into the pouch so nice . See third image .
Been experimenting with adding some rubber grip to the K390 Endura . The Grivex looks better though .
Also I still like the """extreme""" thickness of the black Grivex handle ; see second image . Why not ? / it gets carried in the pouch not in my pocket .
Keep in mind , just to make you jealous , the Urban Trapper has Titanium liners and ball bearing pivot and in spite of all that blocky rubber (over a ?nylon? core ) it is still feather light .
