ACT NOW WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! BBB 15V

#1

Post by BeggarSo »

Are there any plans while supplies last of there being a Bodacious or any other model being released fully serrated in 15V?

BBB mentioned in another forum topic his Collaberation knife with Spyderco will use up the last of the 15V.

I am willing to bet from BBB's knives I have seen online it will be a super thin awesome knife.
:bug-red-white Funny how things go. I started out with a Sharpmaker, and here it is all these years later back to it again but this time with costly hard won experience and fresh new appreciation. :bug-red

I'm still holding out hope for a 15V Bodacious, and I've always felt it would be an awesome steel for serrations.

I agree and for Spyderco not to do a Spydie edge in this steel why that is practically unthinkable.

I Nominate the Bodacious as well for the remaining steel in full serrations of course, the design makes great use of the Spydie edge.

I wonder if producing serrated 15V is profitable. Like how many 15v blanks do they have period, then how many would need to be dedicated to full serrations in order to justify producing a wheel (or wheels) to cut them, and how quickly would those wheels wear out when dealing with such a wear-resistant steel?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

BBB It's a real honor to get what you can share.

So is there a new project you are working on with an eye towards taking yet another steel out of it lane for high performance knife use 🤔
Let's see what 2027 looks like. Eric says that they're going to do my collaboration folding knife and that will use up the rest of the 15V.

I believe I sent that design to Sal in 2019 so I'm pretty excited. It's going to be made in Golden, Colorado at my favorite factory from my favorite company.

I would have waited +10 years for that.

With how fast the serrated MagnaMax mules sold out, and how popular 15V already is, I'd bet my entire knife collection they won't have problems selling a serrated 15V option. Look at how popular serrated K390 was too. It's a safe bet.

I guess the unmasked question with no answer probable to be forthcoming is

"Just how much 15V is remaining for production and what models is it being allocated to?"

My uneducated guess based on the incredibly reasonable pricing of the lightweight and the availability of models already released is there may be quite a bit left to sell but dont miss out if you are smart.

I do not think the same is true of REX 121 again based on the pricing being much steeper.

Then there is S110v, S45vn. These may be running out also.

I think you probably got the answer why there will not be a 15V serrated edge - likely too expensive. I'm not a knifemaker, so I'm just guessing. To the best of my knowledge, there are not any serrated Rex-121 or Maxamet blades?

Yeah I have zero hope for SE 15V, just because the stock is limited. I understand it, gotta make hard priority choices and maximize the sales for what's left. If I ever find a person I trust or figure out how to do them myself, I have a few 15V options I might add serrations to myself.

If stock isn’t used up by the upcoming and Shawn Houston folder prior, I would almost bet money on a 15V bodacious. To date, every single regular model from Golden has been offered in 15V, sometimes multiple versions such as G10 and FRN. Manix, PM2, Para 3, Lil Native (3 models!), Native 5, and Native Chief have or will have all variants offered in 15V! That just leaves Shaman Lightweight, Bodacious, and Shaman XL to be announced, if there’s stock left.

Seems like Spyderco bought the entire final melt of 15V in the world.

No SE, but I noticed the Lil Native lightweight -- along with its 0.098" blade stock -- is listed but not yet available. Right now, one of my two favorite 5th pocket knives is a Lil Native with 10V. The only thing I ever wanted changed on it is thinner blade stock, especially after spending some months with a Chaparral.
Oldest: 1974 Buck 110.
Newest: Lil Native Lightweight PE, BD1N
Knives owned: Too many, yet always finding another.
Added a ceramic mug, "The Edge is a Ghost". Great mug!

I got very lucky that Spyderco made my favorite model, backlock Lil’ Native, with 15v steel. I liked it so much that I bought a second one in case I lose the first one.

Great knife model in a great blade steel.

Thank you Spyderco!

Now I have a 15V Native in G10 on its way + another one in FRN in my pocket. Might get a Chief once it drops. And the 15V Shawn Houston folder is still coming. That's plenty, especially if we are anticipating the coming steels later this year (Rex121 and Magnamax models). We might near the point when whoever wanted to buy 15V, already stocked up.

I have 3 in 15V right now. I might add a couple more. ;)

So Far I have the Military family in 15V all 3 in G10. Looking foreward to the Native Chief my recent purchase from CutleryShoppe of a PM2 lightweight SE will determine if I go for a light weight.
