Oh I have several Ti clips from Casey Lynch. They're great. I'd rather not purchase a new clip for every knife I have. So I adjust them and problem solved. I have no issue with Spyderco's wire clips either.Red Leader wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 1:40 pmYou might also try the ti clip which has just slightly less spring pressure and looks awesome to boot.Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 12:26 pmI got tired of the hourglass destroying blue jeans and shorts, especially on knives with bi-directional texturing or peel-ply G10. So I started bending the the whole clip out (at the base) to take a little tension off. It takes a little messing around with to get it just right but it's been worthwhile for me

I meant specifically the ti Spyderco clip, which seems nearly identical to the standard Spyderco hourglass clip, except for about 85% of the spring tension. But if you have found a good solution to the tension of the regular clip, then that is great also.Sharp Guy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 6:08 pmOh I have several Ti clips from Casey Lynch. They're great. I'm thinking the same thing.Fastidiotus wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 2:10 pmI've never had a pocket clip ruin my pants before I've ruined them somewhere else.
I may have adjusted clip tension on some knives, but I typically leave them as they come. I like that they clip on securely.
I also like coarse scales and have never sanded down or modified the clip landing spot. OK, I do notice some wear from some knives, but still isn't the primary reason my pants need to be replaced.
Now I do have a similar routine as @Jeb when pulling and re-seating my knife. In my case I when my pockets have zippers to avoid damage to the zipper track. Quite a few of my outdoor pants has zippers on both hand pockets and back pockets, so being such a regular practice I wonder if I may be doing it unconsciously when wearing other pants as well.
Everyone finds what works for them, but certainly not bad advice.

Re: Let's talk about the clips
I wear buisness casual slacks most days I have never once ruined a pair of pants with a Spyderco but as others have mentioned I also do not jam the knife in the pocket, I pull the clip back with my index finger and slide it in.
This way I have the blade seated against the rear of the pocket for safety incase of an accidental opening which does happen if you carry long enough.
With the Bodacious knives and there not quite smooth handles I tend to let them slide into place more.

Re: Let's talk about the clips
I'll be the first to admit, I do not like wire clips! I've bent two that I had to just throw away and reorder replacements. As for Spyderco spoon clips, they're great, never had a problem with one ever. In fact I gifted my Lil' Native compression lock away and found / ordered a discontinued back lock Lil' Native just for the clip....well and the lock too!
There's nothing out there in the knife world that can touch the Praetorian titanium clips, so rock solid!!

Re: Let's talk about the clips
Benben,
See, I looked at the milled out Titanium clips like that, I just really like all the extra machine work stuff, but those fit so close to the scales, I have a really hard time getting them over my lip of the pocket.
I do really love all the extra machine milling of them though, they look really great. Should be relatively strong and all... There just was no way to really even bend the tab up enough to increase the ramp effect to help them get over the lip on my pocket easy enough, least for me lol.

Re: Let's talk about the clips
The only Spyderco factory clip that ever disappointed me was the titanium spoon clip on my Caribbean. It snagged on something and just broke. I replaced it with a standard spoon clip and it’s been fine since then.
