This doesn't require any modification to your knife or its clip either. I have been doing this for quite sometime and with a host of different scales too.
While it's quite easy, me being able to type on the forum here and get the method across, may not be such an easy task, given my lack of proper English lol.
Now all my clips I bend the leading edge or tab of the clip out to where it's basically double what it is when we get the knife new. They come at 1/8" out from the scales, I like mine 1/4" so that the clip will get started over my pocket perfectly everytime, even when I may have like insulated coveralls on.
Here is a pic of what I am trying to type... first pic is stock tab from scales at 1/8"

This next one is where I just bend mine out to...

Now you don't have to do this for this method to work. Just showing you what I have done and why is all. Now the way I have been putting my knife on my pocket lip and drawing it works the same.
Your just merely stick your forefinger right on the end of that tab, that I bend out and your thumb on the top edge of the knife that is exposed as it sits in your pocket. I have done this on stock clips, so I know it works.
Stick that forefinger right on the end of the tab as you push the knife over your pocket lip and you just let your forefinger act as a guide shoe. Then using your thumb you will just push the knife in.
Same way as you draw, I just grab my lanyard that leads my hand right to my knife and then with my forefinger I just push up on the tab and wedge my finger slightly in between the pocket and the knife as I draw the knife out, I use my thumb at the top of the knife to stabilize the direction of the knife and keep my forefinger in place.
Just a little messing around with this and you should get the feel for this. In doing this, I have noticed quite a reduction in the pinch the clips should do to help keep our knives safe and in our pocket. I like my clips tight on my pants, tighter the better for me lol.
Once my forefinger is on the lifted tab of the clip, place your thumb on the exposed top of the knife. With your thumb and forefinger in these two places, you proceed to draw the knife or place the knife over the lip of the pocket.
I do it now without even thinking about it. You guys that wear the nice dress pants should find this a big benefit... least I hope you do. Give it a go and see if you can make sense of all this mess I have tried to type and show you.
