Ive read most of the Bible since 1999. Some of the books and passages dozens of times. Still, I want to hear what the Catholic doctrine is on the Bible.James Y wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 2:20 pmNaperville wrote: ↑Sat Jan 31, 2026 1:34 pmI think there are a lot of differences in social and family structures now than there were back in the 60s and 70s.
People are easily manipulated by what they read and see on social media and TV. They have no foundation to base reality on or what their moral compass should be telling them.
I am not saying everyone should be going to mass twice a week but back in the 50s and 60s they did, and the fabric of society was LIKE IT OR NOT representative of a church going population.
It's a free for all right now.
What am I doing? I am headed back to Bible study and church tomorrow. I have to meet and be with people that think more like me. Call it whatever you want but modern society (Kardashians and all that glop) is wearing me out.
I used to go to church every Sunday. I kept going until I was 15. Then I stopped. My parents also made me go to catechism every Thursday afternoon after school, which I stopped going to after 8th grade. TBH, I never got anything out of Church or catechism class, except bored.
I KNOW there is a Divine Creator and angelic beings, always believed it. And I know for a fact through my own personal experiences that I've had as an adult, and continue to have. So I no longer follow any specific doctrine, but cheers for those who do. We're all different and it's all good, as long as people aren't judging others' spiritual beliefs. The only spiritual beliefs I'm against across the board are dark side beliefs and practices/rituals that seek to undermine, control, and harm others.

I just do not know it.
I was involved with the Catholic Church until I was in 5th grade, then I played traveling team hockey and high school hockey for 30+ hours a week, played tennis, bicycle raced, did martial arts and dropped going to church.
I've been to Christian church and a bit of Bible study but no Catholic Church since the 70s. Just trying to get anchored to a doctrine and cautiously, a group.
Looking for good leadership and good people to hang out with.
