To continue and better curate a conversation started here (viewtopic.php?t=98996), I’m creating this thread. I am a long-time fan of this particular knife. There are many situations where being able to quickly open a folder without needing a lot of manual dexterity (i.e., while wearing gloves) is a big plus. There are many reasons to like this model, but this is one of mine.
In general, I’d like to see a sprint run of this knife in an upgraded steel. To keep costs lower and other factors simpler, I’d personally opt to leave all other details the same (sabre-grind blade, FRN handles + liners, 4-position clip, etc.).
The geometry of this blade shape results in a very robust tip. It’s certainly not as slicey as a flat-ground blade would be, but it’s intended purpose as a “tactical tool” emphasizes tip strength over cutting cardboard. It's possible that the heavier sabre-grind blade also contributes to 'wave-opening' this knife more reliably. This geometry can allow for the use of an otherwise less-tough steel, but why not have both?
I would personally prefer some sort of tough stainless steel – even though I am huge fan of K390, Cru-wear, 3V, M4, etc. This is mainly because in my experience (though now quite dated), most rank-in-file patrolmen and solders are likely to gravitate towards stainless (low maintenance) knives for duty use. Therefore, I suggest it be made in either MagnaCut, LC200N, or SPY27. Again, if a non-stainless is chosen, I’d be very happy with Cru-wear, K390, or even 3V…but I think stainless will sell better.
To inspire thought, here's a pic of one of my more recently acquired Emerson Enduras:
