A handle-forward 5" police?! I'm ready, already... this should be a cool experiment.

A very exciting experiment. I believe, and hope they both sell like hotcakes and more variations follow. I would love to experiment with both myself, but I will probably pick just one, and it won't be easy.

My Starmate arrived today and I am very pleased with it. I have a few comparison photos with the GB2 for @VandymanG.

The pocket clip sits at about the same height.

Blade is a good bit thicker on the Starmate and the swedge has a hard edge where the GB2 is nicely radiused.

The Starmate is 10x easier to operate. The spydie hole isn't blocked by the scale and the cut-out also allows easy access to the lockbar. It makes a beautiful satisfying sound when it locks up :-) The action on mine is perfect; no blade play but still easy to open. I really like how the kick keeps the edge away from my thumb on closing. The peel ply G10 has just the right amount of texture to offer a secure grip but not chew up my pockets.

Like @Red Leader mentioned, the blade on the Starmate almost touches the scale. The blade is completely centered. There isn't just isn't much clearance. The Starmate is actually a smidge thinner than the GB2.
Thank you.

The Rex-121 Smock is an attention getter. I can imagine it will be all the rage at the next Seconds Sale should we end up seeing some there. I wonder if there are any plans to use up the last Rex-121 on other models as well. It felt like I kept hearing 'the last of the Rex-121' but then we are surprised with new models, so I'm not sure that I'm not making that up. Regardless, it is great to have the variety, and whichever price they come at. Kudos Spyderco!

I wonder if the new proprietary coating could reliably be used on K390 to enhance corrosion resistance and put into some Golden models while we wait for Magnamax. Despite the two being so similar, I still love my K390...what a fabulous steel!

Watching the BladeHQ video I’ll say it:

The Paramilitary 2 Lightweight looks better than the G10 model

I agree! The scales, the fancy “ID badge”, the properly placed wire clip. Very nice!👍🏻

Crazy thoughts: The Smock must be a much better seller than I thought, or else why the REX treatment? Prices are going up, but Lil Native LW and PM2 LW in 15V seem like legit steals. Do I really need both? Late night questions.

It's extremely fidgetable, seems like a fun model. Not my style but I get the appeal. If they brought back the Sliverax with a button compression lock I'd be fidgeting with one too.

If ya have to ask, ya already know the answer is yes.

Eric pretty much confirmed it's now or maybe never for REX 121 and 15V working with both my answer is the same as yours.

"YES!" Although I fear the price. ☠️

I was trying to understand the construction discussion about the PM2 LW. I like my PM3 LW, but it is less stout than say a Manix LW.

Do we know if it has two washers?

It sounds like two liners which would be an improvement over the pm3lw IMO.

Not yet. I was just going by what I've seen on the preorder prices.

It looks like it has washers on both sides to me. Eric mentioned something about a small liner on the non lock side, I'm guessing it's something like the "8 shaped" washers that used to be (maybe still are?) in the Manix 2 LW around the pivot.

So they are making FRN more better with liners. Good Move.
