My grail Spyderco

#1

Post by vanka »

Hello all. Just wanted to share with all the lovely people in the forum that I finally found my Spyderco grail knife - the one and only Hundred Pacer. In my opinion a very underestimated knife. Yes it has a bit of untraditional profile and it's a bit wide but then again, I'm a big boy with wide palms so to me it's a perfect 4in folder. It has excellent grip and that wide ffg makes it excellent slicer. Even though it is long discontinued I'm glad Spyderco made it. It's been years of searching, but In the end I managed to get it. It was a great hunt. Thank you @sal for making this one. Happy holidays everyone. 🎉

I feel you. This one set me back a little over 600$, including shipping and local customs of about 28‰. But I had to buy it because with the time passing is getting even more difficult to stumble upon one for sale.

I like it. Beautiful knife.

Money was tight for me when they were around and I kept buying fixed blades.

Id like to buy a new one if it becomes available. Maybe Spyderco will bring them back with a backlock.

Very nice find! The Hundred Pacer is one of the few knives I really regret passing on. I'll find one eventually.

I had one of these and sold it years ago, be careful with the CTS-XHP it is pretty easy to rust, watch the pivot area.

As for the k ife it is a nice slicer with that trailingg edge there was talk years ago by Sal of making a variant as I recall, nothing came of it so far.

One of the ones that got away — I regret not picking one up when they were on closeout pricing.

Congrats! I picked one up myself a few years ago. Cost more than I wanted to spend, but still a good deal. In my opinion it's one of the most bad@ss Spydies. I always thought a regular clip would have suited it better. Not that there's anything wrong with a wire clip, it just doesn't match the character of the knife as well.

Edited to say your thread made me dig mine out and put it into the rotation. :cheap-sunglasses

My Grail Spyderco has yet to be made but a Carbon Fiber Military 2 with a button actuated compression lock with an assisted closed position bias both regular and Wharncliffee both in DLC and Stonewashed finish.

And hey they can do that now even so I am down with buying atleast 4 to cover my options as stated.

As for steels 15V, K390, S30V, S90V and sure why not some Magnacut and Magnamax?

If yer gonna wish might as well wish BIG!

Congratulations! It's a great feeling when you find your grail. You will forget about the money in a few weeks but the knife will keep you happy for far much longer. Use and enjoy that knife!

I don't know why but these always give me mid 2000s CRKT vibes in the best way. Congrats on finding your grail, it's always such a sweet sense of satisfaction when all the time spent hunting pays off.
