It was with great anticipation I recently saw Sal mention in another thread they were working on bringing out knives with denim micarta handles.

Now I’m just hoping it won’t end up as a dealer exclusive handle flavor
I'm gonna put my persnickety hat on again. These scales are "denim" colored canvas micarta from what I have seen and read. Not actually denim micarta. I don't know if you care about that distinction or not.

I like canvas, linen, and paper micartas the most. Muslin and burlap mostly don't do it for me. I don't have any experience with denim micarta. I'm curious to see if Spyderco does a denim micarta handle material.

I'm as obsessed on details as anyone, so I appreciate your observant eye and your comment.
I'm not sure if the distinction matter to me, I haven't tried either at this point. Or to be specific, I haven't tried denim colored canvas micarta nor any colored denim micarta (yet, though I have a TRM one on backorder). I really like canvas micarta, so I'd probably be fine with blue denim colored micarta.
But the important thing here is how important this distinction is to Spyderco. They do seem to care about details, so hopefully we'll see production options in actual blue denim micarta even if this blue canvas micarta turns out to be reserved for this dealer.

Got it- 596/600

Mine is not as dark as the images I’ve seen, and I like it. Was going to change out the scales for the S90V burlap micarta I took off of my factory second. We’re good lol

Also flippers on Ebay already if you have FOMO

This is very close to the actual color of the scales. This knife is perfect in every way and S.S. (stupid sharp)

I have no interest in either a Shaman or a coated blade, but I love to see denim micarta scales being used. I hope that continues.

They really nailed the "blue jean" denim color on the scales. Pics don't do it justice, but here's one anyway.

Man this is a heck of a combo. I have two Shamans already but if I didn't I might have to jump on this.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I know right? I already like the RGT blue/black micarta on my S90V Shaman, and these are only gonna look nicer as they age

I like seeing more REX76 releases as I don’t have the steel and it’s more chances to get some.

Not really sure we'll see anymore rex 76 although I remain optimistic. Last year I was surprised when GP Knives dropped the pm2 with satin and coated blade. I mean, apart from the mule in rex 76, I've seen no indication for this steel to hit the production line, and yet Spyderco gave us the gift of having it in a folder. My guess for the Shaman is that it's either been planed long ago, before Crucible ceased operation or Spyderco aqquired a big chunk of the steel to fulfill some orders. Ii really hope they've stockpiled some of it. Gives me hopes to see some more of it in the wild. After new years eve I'm on a hunt for this Shaman on the secondary market.
