My trusty PE Atlantic Salt, because I’ll be working at sea. Three cheers for holiday pay!
Re: Christmas carry (and gifts), a festive thread
We've already had "Christmas" with my side of the family, and we'll do actual Christmas day with my wife's side. Yojumbo for the first one, and probably for the second also.

Re: Christmas carry (and gifts), a festive thread
It was hard to put away my Caly and Rookie, but a few days ago I made my choice. I decided to dust off the knife that opened the door to clipless carry and served as a very important stepping stone in developing the preferences I have today.aicolainen wrote: ↑Sun Dec 14, 2025 1:48 pmI'm a bit boring when it comes to rotating my carry, it's so easy to just carry the knife already in my pocket, that I know will work very well.
But it's fun to switch things up from time to time. For a brief moment I used to be a regular over at Multitool.org, and while many of the challenges they run are quite ...well, I'll be kind and call them unappealing, I did participate in a couple that seemed fun.
One of them was to just carry a the OG Victorinox Executive for the whole of December. I was so skeptical of carrying a two handed, tiny blade for a whole month, but I did survive. And I can't deny it has some implements that proved to be quite handy when preparing gifts, Christmas decorations and all that stuff that is uniquely December.
This December, so far, has been a bit different due to my surgery, recovery and the situation leading up to the surgery. But it has also turned my routines on their head, something that has made it easier to switch in less common pocket companions. Two classics has been stealing the show lately, Caly 3 and the Rookie.
My choices has nothing to do with Christmas, but I'll put some thought into it and see if there is a Spyderco in my drawer that screams "Christmas carry" and deserves to have its drawer dust replaced by pocket lint for the rest of the month.
A unique knife that is fun to use and does some tasks like no other.

With Christmas closing in fast, I didn't have the mental headroom to think about taking a new photo that is thematically correct, so I have to fall back to a archive photo (for now).
I like to carry a SAK around Christmas, so for the moment it's joined by the Cadet I usually EDC. I think it'll stay that way through the holiday season.

Carrying more this month is a Manbug. I resisted for a long time because the Dfly felt so off and awkward in my hand that I thought anything smaller would also not be great. Manbug is great and I'm going to buy more flavors.
The last 2 Spydies I gifted were to my pops. Military 2 SE in s45n, and a Caribbean Leaf SE. Both have held up beyond admirably given the utter abuse they suffer. I didn't doubt lc200n's durability, but I'm constantly shocked by how tough s45vn seems to be in SE. Dr Larrins chart is an amazing resource but I do love it when every now and then steels with a Spyderco heat treat like BD1N and s45vn seem to steadfastly out perform their ranking.
My Christmas day carry is almost always a Cat or Lil Native. Small stout leaf blades are great for getting into clam shell packaging. I feel like the risk of being a statistic for Christmas day emergency room visit is a lot lower with those 2 knives than any others I own.

Just got a few kitchen knives in from Spyderco yesterday now. I am up late. These seem to be typically Spyderco knives. These two blue ones stand up on their edge, seems to be a handy idea on the cut board.

Carrying the PM2 wharncliffe, to open everyone's presents!

One of those presents contain a Murray Carter Bunka Bocho. It's been tucked away for months.

In the Good Deals thread, I talked about some killer sales at a local sporting goods store. I was with my friend, and I wouldn't shut up about the the 15V Millie 2 for under $200. Turns out he bought it for me. So, this is my holiday carry.

Nice addition to the kitchen Jeb! The counter critters are great. I use one in the kitchen a lot, you can rest it on the "legs" so the blade doesn't touch anything.

Paul,
Counter critters lol, that's a good one. I like that as much as I like the whole idea of how they work. I really have these kitchen knives crazy razor like too.

Bodacious box busting today
Just one more knife...
Re: Christmas carry (and gifts), a festive thread
I didn't have anything particular in mind. I reached for my G10 / PD1 Police 4 today on a whim. No specific reason other than it being a favorite.
Also carried a swiss army knife today, which I don't do with great frequency. They're always a joy to use though.
it's nice seeing appreciation for spydercos culinary knives in this thread. I feel like kitchen knives get overlooked a lot in knife collector circles, and they're the ones I personally use more than any other.

That is definitely on my list. A serrated blade and a splinter-picker plain edge might be the perfect setup. It’s even cute so you can use it around people who don’t appreciate our hobby :).ChrisinHove wrote: ↑Tue Dec 23, 2025 3:46 amI’m still really enjoying my Dyad Jr. I find having the blade choice surprisingly useful.

I'm currently carrying a Native 5 Lightweight, SPY27. It's big enough to use with all but deep winter gloves, and it's winter rust resistant.
Oldest: 1974 Buck 110.
Newest: Native 5, Crucarta
Knives owned: Too many, yet always finding another.
Added a ceramic mug, "The Edge is a Ghost". Great mug!
