And then there was a Manix 2 Salt. Oh boy.
Both of these knives are PHENOMENAL. The thing that struck me about both were the weight and balance. The Manix 2 felt substantial, but less weight than a standard Manix 2 with the full liners, which was really nice. The texture was great, and it was nice to see the pocket clip land on the scale’s flat pad. What a nice knife.
The Edgerati felt extremely nice and what I may consider to be a fully premium lightweight Shaman. For a full-sized all-metal knife, the weight was surprising, in a good way. The purchase on the grip was good, and the entire knife did not feel flimsy or dainty. It screams to me to have a premium version in S90V or Magnacut and titanium handles. It just seems like such a natural fit to have this knife in a premium option.
To me, the comments about it feeling unbalanced or the handle ‘collecting pocket lint’ feel overblown. If you are someone that was hating on it for any reason, I would encourage you to hold one in your hand before making further judgement - it may just change your mind.
Only negatives (and small at that) was that the Edgerati had a little lock stick, and the blade opening felt a tiny bit gritty in the last 5% after the blade cleared the detent. Both of these issues I foresee smoothing out and disappearing with use. I also found the Edgerati to front flip easier than the Shaman. Perhaps it is related to the inertia of a lighter blade?
These two are big winners, IMO. The Edgerati wins big in the design dept and with the Manix, the pricepoint makes it one of the most recommendable knives in their entire lineup.
