I got mine yesterday, haven't had much time to fiddle with them. I did get my old black FRN/ATS55 version out and I can say they are definitely true to the originals.

I think it's easy to see a small knife and assume it should be a small price too, but this is only one liner and one scale and some screws away from being two knives, so I think it's priced very reasonably considering that.

On another note, I keep thinking it would be cool if these knives could be made with a hollow barrel screw for the pivot on one end (or both) so they could have a lanyard or keyring attached.

We wanted to add a lanyard hole of some type, but, everything we came up with was more challenging that we thought to incorporate into the knife.

We have another two bladed model that we've refined prototypes, but both blades lock and it has some other unique features, but the concern is over the cost and final price to the ELU.

I have really been enjoying mine. I finding it very fun to open and close one handed over and over. Very fidget friendly to the point I had to lightly file down the inside of the holes because it was tearing up my thumb. Not a knife problem, just a me problem.

Your best bet might be a sheath/slip.

My Dyad is on pre-order with the U.K. importer. I had a fabulous wet moulded leather sheath made for my Friction Folder and may follow suit, or perhaps have a go with Kydex myself. I guess I wouldn’t need much!

Mine arrived today. I'm very pleased with it. The SE blade is incredibly slicey right out of the box (as is the PE).

Have you ever considered doing a double bladed UKPK? Say that both blades share the pivot end (ie, open from the same end). One SE blade and one PE. One stainless liner in the middle, "unlined" G-10 on both outer sides of the handle. The drop point UKPK blade in particular tucks itself nicely into the handle and is pretty ergonomically nice to grip around when closed. It could leverage a lot of the parts that Spyderco already makes, the new parts being the single liner and the longer Chicago screws that would be necessary.

I think that’s a fantastic idea! A slipjoint Dyad based on drop point UKPK blades - you should definitely start a dedicated thread.

The frn scales might make the overall handle less “blocky” than g10. Perhaps it would need a central liner and washers between that and the blades, but maybe a single washer between the blades (and spring pins) might just work.

I've been carrying a Grasshopper on my keys for a while now and I have to say for a knife this small I really don't miss the lock. As long as it's designed in typical Spyderco fashion where there's a kick/ricasso to close into your finger for safety then I might prefer a slip joint Dyad. On small knives with big hands they get a little finicky to operate anyway.

I ordered some out of stock items together with mine, so I hope Knife Center has their logistics in order, so it's not lost in the meantime.
I'm post-op atm as well, but my plan is to go back to work on Monday, so looks like the Dyad jr. won't make it here in time to serve as post-op carry for me. Would have been pretty ideal to have around during this time, as I've had more time than usual to fiddle around with small repair projects and Christmas preps around the house. A nice way to familiarize with it and check out its versatility.

It’s a gem of a knife. Really liking the cobalt blue FRN.
One of those models that I missed first time around that just called to me.
