Re: What would be your dream knife?
Generally, I'd like to see most of the compression lock models converted to top-liner button locks. If we could get them running on bearings, even better.
While not a compression lock model, I'd love to see something like the RockJumper, with its ergonomic handle, done as a top-liner button lock on bearings. Give it Micarta or Richlite handles... a guy can dream.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
Handled this Medford Infraction yesterday, thick stout sculpted titanium scales, frame lock, beautiful hollow grind S45VN blade, incredible tolerances, just premium in every sense of the word.
These are very pricey, I’d love to see the Golden crew put their own unique spin on something somewhat like this that’s actually affordable and still high quality.
Sorry, I’ve turned into a titanium frame lock Ho!

Re: What would be your dream knife?
A new C95 remake has been thrown around here a bit, and I’m 100% on board, but how about a completely new Golden made Manix-esque full titanium frame lock in a premium steel, a tool steel would be nice.
I think a Spyderco like this would turn the knife world on its ear and make the big titanium frame lock guys take a hard look!

I think it's worth pointing out that those are not his pictures or the result of his imagination. Those images have been generated by an artificial intelligence algorithm.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
I know the PPT models only from pics (and looked up specs) and always loved the design!
I also really like good and well executed frame (and liner) locks
Me being me an a bit larger and a bit lighter version would be amazing!
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

Still, that Swiss Cheese handle is fantastic. Now I'm wanting a 'Spawning Chinook' handle for my Caribbean.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
You're wrong. This is a figment of my imagination and my thoughts. The artificial algorithm simply draws what I tell it to. Let me tell you a secret: you, too, can think of ways to help Spyderco.
I tried to create something imaginative about chinook salmon and red fish in general. Artificial intelligence is an extremely stubborn child. It was challenging, but I think we managed to achieve an interesting result.

Thanks Sal

Re: What would be your dream knife?
You haven't shared a single original image yet. You have been using an ai algorithm for every response in this thread.
We all could have told an ai algorithm to draw a Delica with fish meat for handles.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
I'm glad you have your own opinion. This is the foundation of a liberal world. And, as free men, we carry our "Peacemaker" in a holster. I propose using a more modern version of the weapon, an AI, instead of the old "Colt." Let's have a beautiful shootout – like in a Western. Only instead of bullets there will be pictures. I hope your shot is just as successful and exciting. This will be fun.

The Abel Reels Native 5s were gorgeous, but super expensive.
@Mark!'s post makes me wonder if the Zome dye treatment could make something similarly interesting, but significantly more cost effective.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
I'm a fan of the Spyderco Brouwer. I like that it has no hump and that it's very narrow in the pocket for a Spyderco. It gets out of the way when not in use very nicely. I really like the sturdy spear point blade. I don't like that I've had one come open in my pocket. I wouldn't mind if it was a little larger.
I'd like to see it re-imagined as a mid lockback with stop pins like other Taichung lockbacks, but a little longer, but no larger than 3.25". I'd prefer it be forest green. I wouldn't mind if it had a Ti side and a G-10 side. The clip against the smooth Ti side glides in and out of the pocket. I'd prefer the wire clip. CruWear would be my preferred steel.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
I get the frustration with AI. It took me a long time to realize that the photos of gorgeous women in bikinis, standing in a river with two 8-pound fish in each hand, were AI-generated. The realization was kind of horrifying - we're only in the beginnings of this technology. Now, when I see something that I think was AI-gen'd, I go to my AI app and try to create something similar, just to verify that it's fake.
What you're doing is different - not sure about your app, but if I were to enter a statement to create a 'salmon-handle' Spyderco, it would generate a different image each time. There's a lot of value in that - I obviously have an output image in mind, but AI can give me alternative images that could very well be better than my vision. Nothing wrong with that.
Having said all that, I was looking for a knife handle that looked like the colorful skin of a spawning salmon. It wouldn't be much different from some of the rainbow trout lures that we've all seen. But your 'raw fillet' handle is better than anything I could have come up with.
Re: What would be your dream knife?
Let me try to expand on your idea. Imagine we have multi-colored plastic plywood. The top layer is one color, then another is lifted, and then another underneath. This way, we can create several layers. A laser of varying power can remove one, two, three, or even four layers, revealing different colors. And by varying the etching depth, we can create texture on the handle. For example, these kinds of motifs of the American aborigines can be made using this method.

By the way, I've been wanting to make a Spyderco-style comb for a while now. You can make money from such products and bring joy to comb owners.

And these two-color options are even simpler.

A laser used in a factory is now quite inexpensive equipment. Perhaps this would be a good option, allowing us to use an image provided by the user. We can embed initials, slogans, logos, and anything else the customer creates themselves using the automatic designer on the Spyderco website. And everyone will get their own unique, personalized Spyderco.
ps
I think selling such handles under the Spyderco brand would be a welcome addition to their business. And perhaps the next version of the Endura or Military will be designed with quick-change handles in mind. Many knife owners could buy different, beautiful "dresses" for their knives, dressing them up like their favorite pets.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
At first, I imagined the fish as a system. And then I began to disassemble this system into its component parts. I was looking for the juiciest, most delicious, and most vividly conveying its essence. A fish skeleton, while recognizable, isn't as appetizing. Scales create a pleasant effect, but they evoke the stereotype of slime. So I settled on a juicy "steak."HolySteel wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 10:42 amHaving said all that, I was looking for a knife handle that looked like the colorful skin of a spawning salmon. Then I had to choose many different colors for the fish meat, parts, and detail. After that, I carefully edited them, adjusting them to the requirements and tweaking the stubborn AI. Then I adjusted and corrected them in Photoshop. So, in the end, the result was roughly what I wanted in my head.

I second that. I can't afford Medford.... or a few of the the others out there...lol. I love Spyderco for their quality and affordability.benben wrote: ↑Sat Dec 06, 2025 7:41 pmHandled this Medford Infraction yesterday, thick stout sculpted titanium scales, frame lock, beautiful hollow grind S45VN blade, incredible tolerances, just premium in every sense of the word.

Re: What would be your dream knife?
I really need shorter knives for self-defense. They're a little smaller and less "threatening" than the Endura-based models. And with a slightly less pronounced "hawk's beak" curve. I'd happily buy a couple of these knives.
I carried a MATRIARCH knife for a while. It's very handy for opening boxes. But it scared everyone who saw it. In my country, I can carry a pistol. In the rest of Europe, I can't take it with me. And my companion is usually the Matriarch. Then I had to carry two knives: a MATRIARCH for self-defense and a regular British knife for opening boxes and cutting food.
Now we have a rather narrow choice - we have Tasman, which is too small. Or MATRIARCH, which is too big and scary. Based on the Endela design, this blade is more than up to the task of self-defense. And it will also be more comfortable and effective in tight spaces. And thanks to its slightly lesser curvature, it will be more functional for everyday tasks. It is also better suited for stabbing attacks.

And I think it will sell much better. I'd happily buy a couple of these knives.
