Used a MagnaMax SE to slice a tired mattress into smaller pieces for easier disposal. It wasn’t fun, but it worked flawlessly. I really like the Spyderedge.
Oldest: 1974 Buck 110.
Newest: Li’l Native, CPM 15V, G10, Backlock
SE models: Dragonfly 2 Salt, Lil Native, Chaparral, Salt 2, Byrd Hawkbill 2, LeafJumper K390, Mule MT46S, Temperance CruWear

Added a ceramic mug, "The Edge is a Ghost". Great mug!

Apparently, I used my Magnacut Mule to cut the thread of the belt loop on my sheath without noticing. Lol! At least thats what I think happened. I was out fishing (use my MT a lot for cutting line and cleaning fish) and when I got home and went to take the sheath off my belt, I found this.

Dang, that had to be hard to do. Those are sewn really well too. I am not sure just how you shaved those threads off, better it was your Sheath and not your waist lol...

But on the otherside, sounds like the fishing was good. One of my favorite things to do.

Had the same issue. Apparently if you keep your knife scary sharp and aren’t careful how you put it back in the sheath you can cut the threads over time. I had two sheaths that I had that issue with. I’m going to get a dangler so I can see the sheath better when I re-insert the knife. I’m hoping that solves the issue for me so I can carry my modified mule.

Lol! I do keep my knives sharp. I just installed a snap on the sheath. I was worried that it might scratch the blade, but it doesn't seem to make contact with it when I take it in and out. And its high enough that it rests against the scales when the knife is in the sheath. So hopefully, problem solved 🤞

I like your fix for this. I looked at the couple of those leather sheaths of mine and mine shows the signs of the same thing going on...

Next step is putting in the amethyst inlay. Never knew amethyst would be really, really, really tough to crush. My apologies to the MNOSD I sacrificed a wool sock to crush the amethyst. The sock did not survive the hammer, amethyst, and concrete. I did give the sock a proper Viking funeral.

I have smaller pieces of amethyst. But I didn’t want to use them for the picture.

Hi! That shot was somewhere northeast of Idyllwild, Calif.

These mules make wonderful "naked" lightweight blades. I carefully grind a chamfer onto the handle area, and once the sharp edge is gone, it feels good in the hand (for a very thin handle). If a lot of use is required, a handkerchief wrap has done the trick to date. But honestly most of my knife use on the trail has been light duty. I could get by with my Spyderco Air Bradley...but don't want to.

While we of course regret the passing of a noble sock, it sounds like you did your best to honor it with a flaming boat. Well done, brother.
