Beautiful patterns on that one! Is that a sea run cutthroat?

Re: Fishing
Stopped by the Cape Cod Canal after work today and got on a pretty good bite. Five striper all around slot size (28"-31) in about an hour and a half. I released everything but I probably could've kept all but one of them.

Re: Fishing
Actually caught out of a lake that I fish quite a bit. It's a spring fed lake with no streams in or out. Kind of funny, I've been fishing that lake for years and had no idea there were cutties in there.

Re: Fishing
Yum. Did you grill or pan fry it?
Re: Fishing
Actually, wrapped in foil with lots of garlic, butter, and lemon slices, then baked in the oven. Too rainy for the grill, lol

Pacu, you & Nick have been puttin' it down! I've been lovin' it & jonesing;
and so This Morning, I went fishing =-]

^^^^^^ AND ^^^^^^
Caught some trout :-) Two Brown and Three Rainbow. That little brown Trout Magnet jig is what caught all but one of them too. Ultralight setup, and a ton of fun. Such a Gorgeous Day here today too!
Man!
Hope everyone has a Grate day and Thanksgiving! and if yer goin' fishing - I hope you enjoy it and catch some too

Nice catch! We don't get browns stocked very much in my area. Mostly just rainbows and some cutthroat.u.w. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 12:44 pmPacu, you & Nick have been puttin' it down! I've been lovin' it & jonesing;

I generally fish less during the cold wet Fall/Winter. I'm just not good enough at it to make it worth the misery; however, the last time we went out, two weeks ago, we combined a cold and miserable morning of fishing, with razor-clamming in the evening. I got zero fish and fifteen razor clams, and we had a great meal at Burger King.
Last time I caught fish was in October during the Pink Salmon run. I caught two Coho and a bunch of pinks. Here's a nice Coho and a pink. That's an L.T. Wright 'Frontier' hanging around my neck.

Re: Fishing
Nice harvest, Pacu! Regretfully I didn't hit any of the local trout ponds this fall. Now they're already iced over. Hoping that means it's going to be a good ice fishing season.
Awesome, u.w! The patterns and colors on those browns are super unique and really cool looking. Keep up the good work and keep sharing because I probably won't be catching any trout until the spring at this rate.u.w. wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 12:44 pmPacu, you & Nick have been puttin' it down! I guess I could target some trout through the ice but I've had better luck going for other species at the local lakes.
I usually like doing some wade fishing at the local trout ponds in the fall while the the striper season is wrapping up but I didn't do any this season. Those striper I last posted were the last fish I caught this year.HolySteel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:31 pmI generally fish less during the cold wet Fall/Winter. Those are some good looking salmon! Nice catch.
I've never done any clamming but the opportunities in my area are abundant. Razor clams are one of the handful of species that I know of. Going to have to look into that next summer.

It's so cold and rainy around here that I have no urge to drive where I would need to, to fish.Mushroom wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 7:53 pm

I hope you get the chance to go razor clamming. If they're there, they're there, and you'll get your limit. Here it's 15 - that's 3-4 meals for me and my girlfriend, even more if I do shrimp or oysters at the same time.
This morning I'm baking a farmed Steelhead fillet for breakfast.

Went fishing this morning and caught these =-]

A freakin' Koi! (carp with a fancy paint job). Decent size one at that too :-)
Caught on ultra-light gear and MAN! What a fantastic time it was from hook-set to eventually landing it! What a fight!

Measured it at ~26 inches long. No scale, but google says 8lb to 14lb. I'd easily say it's in that range somewhere. I hooked and laned it on a 4'6" ultra-light one piece Shakespeare Micro-Series rod/reel open faced spinning combo, spooled with 4lb test mono.
Yes, there was a bit of pucker-factor happening while playing the fish, lol.
Luck was indeed with me and I Landed It!
Woooo-Hoooo!
AND...

caught another one of those beautiful (and yummy :-) Brown Trout, ~12".
This one on a bronze-ish Rebel 3" paddle tail, same rod/reel,
Same huge grin =-]
The Koi did indeed get released right back into the water it came from, and that beautiful brown is resting in my frying pan waiting on me to make my dinner, cook, & eat it
It was a Grate Day right out the gate for sure! but catching these two fish put the frosting on the cake for me to eat too!

Wow! Did you know the koi was in there or was it a surprise? Either way, thats a cool catch. Nice brownie too!.u.w. wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 3:43 pmWent fishing this morning and caught these =-]

I haven't been able to get out recently because of all the flooding here in Washington St.. All the rivers are blown out. Most of the lakes are brown and dirty. Going to be a while before things are back to normal.

Re: Fishing
Pacu - I've seen some videos of the flooding, land/mud slides etc... out your way. Stay safe from all that please, and I hope it passes, and clears up sooner than later.
We're (I'm) looking forward to seeing some more great fishing photos from you, when you get the chance.
The Koi was Definitely a surprise. I do know there are Carp in there,
but wasn't expecting to hook one; and didn't know there were the Koi variant(s).
If I was going to target Carp (Koi) I would've been using a [good] bit more than my 4.5ft ultra-light spinning rod with 4lb test mono on it, lol. Carp are very strong fish, and can get pretty big.
That said - MAN! It sure was a Grate time playing and landing that fish!
When I finally saw it for the first time, I thought??? what in the world is that???
It took some time after initially seeing it before I got in in the net. Many, many runs.
Me the whole time "oh please don't break off", "come on! tire out!", "get in the net!"
over, and over lmao =-]
My shoulder got a little tired playing it, lol. 4lb Test - You aint gonna horse that fish in on that. You're gonna play it until it finally tires out enough to be netted. Which it being a Carp, is gonna take a while.
They are strong fighters for sure.
I went back out this morning. Eyelets on rod icing up due to the low temps (it warmed up nicely though later :-)
Caught my dinner for tonight. It's in the pan waiting.

'nother beautiful Brown.
1/8 oz Little Cleo spoon is what I was casting, and it slammed.

Re: Fishing
Where I'm at didn't get hit too bad. There was some flooding, but the worst of it was a few hours north. Apparently we're in for more heavy rain. Luckily I have a small boat, lol!
