Centofante 3 - New - Not pinned anymore !?

#1

Post by srivats »

I added a new knife to my collection - Centofante 3 and the blade is every bit as good as everyone talks about and is going to be great for office EDC. I got it new from a well known authorized dealer so I know it's not a fake. The knife came with the clip setup for right side tip down carry and I went to change it to tip up, and I was very surprised to notice that the pivot and the handle had screws on one side! I was expecting to see pinned construction and I am very pleasantly surprised to see this. When did this change happen, anyone know?

I think that happened with the Cruwear Sprint Run last year.

Thanks. I saw that but read that that version did not have a hollow grind so did not pursue much of the discussions since that was an appeal factor for me. This latest version makes an already very good knife just great.

Hollow ground pocket perfection! I've gifted 3 of these over the years. My current one is at least 10 years old. Nothing wrong with it, and I still carry it regularly. But I had to order the new cqi model.

Love seeing another positive experience with the Centofante 3. Agree on timing of the CQI.

I first picked this model up about 8 months ago and it has taken the lion's share of pocket time since.

Thin, slicey, handle forward, negative blade angle. Lots to love.

Glad I gave it a chance.

I love that they're keeping this in production. It gets so little attention. It's been on my list of models to acquire, but just haven't gone for it yet.

Yes, still hollow ground and still thin BTE. The blade came so sharp from the factory too, it cuts so nicely. Great knife.

Strangly enough, not for the cru-wear sprint run. It’s about as thick a PM2 behind the edge. Hollow grind, I cannot tell.

As far as I know the Cruwear sprint has just a sabre grind, and a pretty low one too... for me this actually kills the perhaps most defining feature of the Centofante, exactly the hollow grind in rather thin blade stock...
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

Centofante 3 has been a sleeper on my list for many years, but not yet made it to the top of my priorities.
A Centofante 4 would be an instant buy. 100%.
