Need help about Delica one

#1

Post by Agnostik »

Hello all (from France, excuse my english).
I own a black Delica first gen i presume. Spyderco G-2 Stainless mark on blade one side, Seki-City Japan on the other.
On the handle Clipit Delica mark on one side, but NO "Us and foreign patents" inscription on the clip.
Can someone tell me if it's a legit knife ?
I will upload pics if it can help.
Thanks you in advance.

I haven't seen any gen 1 Delicas without the "patents" text on the clip, but this looks like a perfectly legitimate first gen delica! My assumption is that some models were produced without the text on the clip, likely during one of the transitions in clip styles - the integral FRN clip was actually modified six times over the first generation of the Delica.

The "G-2" stamp would place this manufacture between 1992-94 or perhaps early 1995. I believe the "fat" clip version here looks to be the final iteration of the integral FRN clip, so I'm guessing this is from the later part of that range.

At least from the picture, it looks to me as it was intentionally smoothed out. The texture should be the same as the handle and it doesn’t look it.

You can post pics by going to postimage.org, select pic and upload, then click "Hotlink for Forums" to copy and post the link. It will show the picture and not the link when you submit.

I can only see a picture of the clip, but not the entire knife. That would help.
