I'm excited for this one, in the (contoured!) white G10. It looks like a nice slim and light carry. The 8Cr… steel is fine for my typical uses.

I have a few of the OG Mantras, passed on the 2 & 3, but I like the looks of this one and will definitely check it out.

oh wow i'm dumb. didn't even think to look on the site.

i'm definitely intrigued by the mantra. it's a very classy looking knife in the white g10.
The white g10 is what got me. I pre-ordered it from BHQ.

I’m not super into the white but it’s a nice blank canvas if you want to dye the scales.

With that 2.2 mm thin blade, Spyderco is moving in the right direction. ...
100% agreed!
That thin stock, linerlock, 3.15" of actual cutting edge (more than a PM2) for a weight of only 2.1 oz, not too steep, subtle thumb ramp... ticks a lot of my personal boxes.
Of course I wish there´d be an SE variant - generally anyway, but also cause in my limited experience I believe that 8CR (much like VG10) is pretty decent for SE, but just soso for PE.
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I think I only have a Tenacious in the SE/8CrMOV13 combo. Oh, my kids have a couple Ambitious SE but I haven’t really used them.

SE always has the “dull but still cutting” advantage in lower end steels. But I think it stays properly sharp about the same as in PE.

If the blade is thin enough, I might keep it white. Kinda like a quasi gentleman's knife/edc.

Glad I have my original (tuned) Mantra. Not sure the Value Line model interests me. I've said that before and changed my mind. So we'll see

Still in preorder state. Not a big deal but I'm curious why Spyderco announces stuff they can't deliver in time for the holiday sales cycle. Always seems odd given how much control they have over announcements.
