Post by TazKristi »

It's that time of year again. The following items will be discontinued for 2026.
Dicso2026-3.1.jpg
Dicso2026-4.1.jpg
Dicso2026-1.1.jpg
Dicso2026-2.1.jpg
There is nothing more important than this one day.

A rather short list this year (which is always a good thing!).

Nothing really heartbreaking as far as I'm concerned, even though the Gayle Bradley fans (and I know there are many out there) might feel otherwise. Maybe another version with a different steel is planned? Or perhaps a Gayle Bradley 3 is around the corner?

In any case, M4 seems to be on the way out.

I hope the company releases a GB3 with a more confidence-inspiring detent.

Also, I've been wanting to get one of those ceramic mugs, but fear that it won't survive a trip across the ocean.

GRATEFUL that the Canis was not on this list, as I have yet to pick one up (but will absolutely do so), and the GB2 reminds me of a recent thread here where we speculated on a future GB3 that seem to combine the best elements of the GB1/2. But there might be hurdles as I don't think one can just go making changes to someone's signature knife w/out the involvement, blessing, or approval from the designer. And it might not really be theirs at that point? Seems tricky.

I'm sure this is a tough list to come up w/ each year. Good job Spyderco! :usflag

Interesting that all of these products are made overseas. I suppose USA models tend not to get discontinued as much anyway though. I wonder if tariffs had anything to do with some of these products being unviable.

A shame that M4 disappears from the standard catalog with the disappearance of the Tenacious and GB2. I’m honestly surprised to see the GB2 go away, but I suppose it had a great run.

Worth considering sometimes models are discontinued to clear out for a new version. Maybe a GB3 is coming?

Sad to see the GB2 being discontinued. A knife that serves me well and luckily I have a backup of.

A GB3 would be a dream come true!

Thanks, Spyderco, for keeping the FOMO low this year. I just need to grab the Chaparral RN to go with my Sun & Moon before EU dealers start hiking prices on the discounted models (unlike in the US).
Recent favourites: Massad Ayoob CPM CRU-WEAR PE & SE, Yojimbo 2, Lil' Temperance 3 K390.
Looking to add: Spyderco C131CFP Terzuola Slipit.

Two surprises:

1. I always thought the GB2 was quite popular, it was always OOS locally, always sold quickly on the secondary as well. Luckily I got both the standard and CruWear+Jade G10 so I'm covered. Great design. And hopefully it's as others've said - maybe it's just making space for a new iteration, maybe button actuated compression lock with magnacut? :D

2. It's the Tenacious lineup instead of the Resilience that's getting axed. Personally I'm perfectly fine with that as I much prefer the Resilience platform. And I understand the smaller models in the family sell better as that's what the market seems to like (considering ~75% of the chinese releases are in the sub 3,3" length and they seem to make almost only what sells best). Kinda sad I didn't get the Tenacious M4 when it was on sales, now it's OOS in the shops with better prices locally.

Are the BD1N versions of the kitchen knives being discontinued, or is it just the blue super?

Highly doubt we'll see another GB post retirement, but maybe an exclusive? Looking at you St Nick's!

@LazyOutdoorsman the way it is presented, I would assume the BD1N lines are safe.

M4/S35VN- I wonder how much of these being discontinued is due to Crucible bankruptcy and the resulting supply chain challenges?

Oh man... Somehow I always regret a bit that I sold my S35VN Tenacious... now is perhaps the time to get another one, it is a great knife, I really liked the linerlock, the endura-ish cutting edge length and how the steel behaved (pretty quick and easy to touch up for a non-master-sharpener like me, but good edge retention).
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I just got to handle one of those Gyuto's while on vacation (surprisingly) and it was extremely nice, like too nice for my kitchen lol. Even my wife who is a chef said "that's overkill" and I kinda laughed. Maybe if the prices drop enough I'll get her one anyway.
