Re: Any aerobatic pilots out there?
Thanks for mentioning this topic. I was not very familiar with it. I knew they did alot of stunts in the early days of flight but I did not realize it still goes on today.
It is a big field. Sadly some of them have died young in flight accidents but others do not.
I found this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Aerobatic_pilots
Imagine being hundreds or thousands of feet up and all one has is a nylon or kevlar line between them and the ground.

Re: Any aerobatic pilots out there?
Hi Spyderedge,
Somewhat of a bittersweet feeling while perusing that wiki article. I personally knew three of those who died, and know several others on that list, and have flown with two on that list, and many others that are not on it.
I’m not a pilot, but I have been taught to fly aerobatics and have been to lots of air shows in the past. I always wanted to fly as a pilot, but in the fourth grade it became obvious my vision was inadequate. I’m quite nearsighted. It’s very exhilarating to be in control of a plane that is tumbling and spinning and seemingly out of control, but knowing how to bring it out of that state and recover to placid flight. A modern aerobatic aircraft can crush an unwary flier into unconsciousness in seconds. If you have never experienced constant G forces, it’s a real eye opener! Aerobatic rides are offered at many airports. You will be required to take a ziplock bag.
