Golden Age of Supersteels Over???

A place to list and reference all Spyderco counterfeits, clones, and replicas that are found. Anything that isn't a legitimate Spyderco fits in this area.

Golden Age of Supersteels Over???

Now that CPM is no more, what do you all think the outlook is for further super steel Spyderco knives?

Just to refresh, CPM was responsible for the stainless SxxV series including my favorite S90V which was a great, balanced trifecta of hardness, toughness and corrosion resistance. In the non-stainless camp they provided the superb 15V and REX 121 among others.

Will Z-MAX get another look as a possible 15V replacement, possibly with some trick heat treating like BBB 15v? What else is there on the near term horizon?

I hope we don’t end up in a MagnaCut this, that and the other thing swamp! Curious to hear others’ thoughts.

Yep, the golden age of super steels is all over. Soon we will be limited to Aus 8 and 440C blade steel.

I am being sarcastic. I am sure there will be more super steels coming our way.

There was a thread about this same topic going on here somewhere a few weeks ago. You can probably search for it and find the discussion.

Looks like OP started that one too, and since it is in the right place it got the more traction of the two.
