Mine came in awhile back but haven't had a chance to carry it. Out of the box it was perfect. The micarta looked all nice and clean, bright. Then I put 2 drops of oil on the pivot screw, played with it for a bit then put back in the box.
I was going to carry it last week so when I took it out I noticed that the oil spread all over the scales!
I got bummed out and put it back in the box to see if it would dry out. It dud!
Her she is:
Hmm, can't post a pic. File too large.
Just saw this post , you are not the first or the last to make this boo boo ! Including me ! MG2
Heck, I have more oil than that on my paws, did the same thing to mine dude, don't worry it will come out. Then if your lucky as I am the oil in my paws is way tougher to get off than that lightweight pivot lube.
That, or just let it stand and get more character as you use it. It's like an old lariat rope, the more you use them the better they get. Two choices here neither really better than the other.
Oh, I know. In fact it almost all dried out already. I showed the knife off at work and all the knife guys were ooohing and aaaahing, lol.
We're all pretty much Spyderco and Benchmade guys. Lot of active trading, too. Not je. I love all of mine and not for sake or trade. I have my supervisor wanting my Autonomy 2 really bad and a junior scientist wants my Smock.
Yes, I don't have anything around here I buy to sell off lol. If I do anything and have done so many times, I gift my Spyderco knives to people. They make great statements all on their own.

Same with me. I've gifted my niece and nephews a few. Gave them the spyder fever now so they are collecting as well, lol.
