Not long ago, I bought a Temperance PE sprint run with gray FRN and CruWear blade. I like it a lot. The CruWear is great. It doesn't hold an edge anywhere near as long as 15V would, but it's pretty easy to sharpen and is very tough. In fact, the SE version of it is in the mail.

I didn't even think of super blue, but the more I think about it the more I like that idea.

Super Blue rusts very easily. I don't think I want to do that. You have to wash it and dry it each time you use it.

true. I only have it in high end gyutos but it holds an edge nicely and sharpens great. I guess clad would be the only sensible option for a temp 2 sprint.

So, something stainless but more exciting to the public than VG10, made in japan. Hmm.

I enjoyed ZDP189 back in the day but I don't see it having the right degree of toughness for this role.

I've never used it but I hear supergold 2 trades some edge retention for toughness vs ZDP.

Well, if superblue is out, then I vote for HAP40.

Hap 40 and V-Toku 2 are fantastic stainless clad tool steels that should be available in Seki City.

I like my CruWear Temp, especially the blade and sheath, but the handle ergos are a bit off for me. I may just need to use it more to get used to it.

Clade HAP40 is a favorite of mine. I think it would make an excellent steel for another run of the Temperance 2.
