.....STOP IT!

I get to a point where I feel that my collection is complete and then you produce something as incredible as the CF Mili :(

I am beginning to feel that you are in this business to make money!

Heck I'll bet you can get a bunch of friends together and probably work a deal with Spyderco. Or maybe they can make a bunch of simple plain-jane Millies for those who don't want anyone to know what model Spyderco knife they are using.

For me I want the "Real-Deal" complete with "Military" name and the "Spyderedge" blade to celebrate the 10 years of sales of such a fine knife product! Not some steathly look-a-like.
Well since Sal has already stated that the CF Military will be PE, guess you're out of luck.

Have to ask, did you choose the word "discretely" intentionally or just confuse it with "discreetly"? The MILITARY name egraved on the blade, while discrete for the last few years, was NEVER discreet.

Calm down, no need to get sassy about it. I know you've tried to make a big deal about this on other forums, but you need to understand it is a business decision.

I'm not into the word "Military" being on the blade, but I am not into the Millie at all, just too big for me to use in the city. As Paul also pointed out, I'd never call the lettering on the Millie as being "discreet".

I was trying to be helpful suggesting that in the future if people are upset about it, there is something that can be done to get the word "Military" back on the blade if they so desire. I'm not pushing for one way or the other on the sprint run, but we do know the the new standard Millies do not have the words on the blade, so there is still the option to get those engraved if someone wants it on the blade.

I am completely against it!

Not in this time and place!

I still have too many on my want list so I don't want any distractions like this one. It would certainly be a sure-buy.

This just might be the one I will have to send in for the All Gods Critters logo to be engraved on.

Thanks all for encouraging me to buy the Military. I actually had the opportunity to handle one early on and found the blade length just too long my normal uses. I held out for the paramilitary and currently have 4 (2 customs and 1 soon to be custom). I also received a free one (440V Diamond Engraved) that an ebay seller enclosed on a PRCA Q that I bought. I just need to get the tip reground. I wonder if the CF will be lighter than the G10 :D

Do you mean to say "engraved on the blade"? I have never heard of egraved before.

And since they aren't here (or possible made) yet maybe we can get the spyderedge like they came with for the past ten years. Thoughts?

Yes, I meant engraved, but since there is no such word as egraved, not much of a chance of anyone misunderstanding my intent. Totally different when you use a word that has a meaning and which, if used intentionally, is correct but could mislead someone unaware of the difference. On the other hand, if you actually consider the "billboard" style in which the word MILITARY was splashed across the blade of the C36 to be prudent, modest, or unobtrusive, then discussion is pointless.

I do notice you questioned my question, but never answered it.

As for your last, as far as I know, they have been made in plain edge for the past ten years as well. Since the spyderedge is one of Spydercos trademarks, I figure there must be a good reason when Sal decides not to use it. He has stated in the past that "specials" aimed at collectors sell better in plain edge, so I'm inclined to believe that had a lot to do with his decision. As for my feelings about it, I am pleased with that decision. I prefer plain edged blades on knives, like the Military, that I would consider adding to my collection, but which will never see use. I consider it a necessity on the ones I do use, or intend to use.

Plain edge or serrated, engraved or not? It is still a Mili as far as I'm concerned. :p ;) :)

sal wrote:I can't say that the "anniversary" provided influence, but,

we are in the middle of a test run (about 450 pcs) of CF millies. The edge is plain (sorry Spydutch), the CF is peel ply (so it has the same "grip" as G-10),

Not much of a "show piece", but I do carry a CF version quite often.

Should be out in about a month.

Just too bad Sal. But maybe for the better too. Due to the cash running low a little  , I decided to let the CF Harpy pass by. I still want an improved Delica, the Tasman and the Manix 80 mm(if there are enough serrations on the blade that is  )
I'm almost sure that, when the CF Military was in SE too, I surely had to buy it, because IMO the Military is still the best knife that Spyderco made so far. :D

This is what I have been thinking about, too.

Will it be only available from Spyderco or will some retailers also have it for sale?

I definitely do not want to miss out on this one!
