@kennethsime always think about you when I see Crucarta NC. Wondering if you getting one?
I’m still on the fence. I’ve been waiting for this one for so long, but now I’m thinking about holding off a bit longer for the CruCarta Bodacious. The Shaman with micarta is still the best-looking Spyderco in my opinion—really regret missing out on that one. Hoping the Bodacious comes pretty close…

Good result, even though I do not take factory edge retention tests too seriously.
I'm happy to add another Cruwear blade in the arsenal. Mine should land on Monday.

Your own edge will cut even better—total win-win. Congrats on the pickup.Brock O Lee wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 4:29 amGood result, even though I do not take factory edge retention tests too seriously.

Re: Chief Crucarta
I’m struggling between the Chief and the M2 at the moment . I can see having both models in the future but not sure which one to choose first . I only have three Crucarta models so trying to gauge which one I would carry the most daily . The Chief is a beauty . MG2

Re: Chief Crucarta
Oh man, aside from dreaming about the future CruCarta Bodacious, that’s exactly what’s holding me back too. I’m torn between the Chief and M2. I’m excited to try linerless micarta, and the Native Chief usually looks better to me—but it’s also the hardest Spyderco for me to open one-handed, while the M2 is a dream to operate.Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 13, 2025 5:25 amI’m struggling between the Chief and the M2 at the moment . I already have a CruCarta PM2, which feels close to the M2, while the NC in CruCarta seems way more unique. I’ve got an equal number of both models, but the M2 gets way more pocket time. So practically, I lean M2—but I’m not sure if I’d carry the CruCarta M2 as much as my 15V one. Go figure…

The great 5hing about micarta is that it cleans up easily with a bit of soapy water.JMM wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 5:02 pmI went through a love period with the light 'soft' micrarta but never liked the way it looked once it was used a few times so I new I have several sets just sitting in bags. On the bright side...
I found out today directly from AWT that they are actively working on Chief scales so there's always that route
(I will definitively get a set for the CruCarta chief)
Dang, I love the looks of the Chief, I just wish they'd make one with stainless liners. I'd be all over them!

Well doggone it! I wish that I had read this post before ordering one! I just ordered one from BladeHQ because I'm a big fan of brow or tan micarta.Wallach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 3:04 pmJust got mine in this afternoon. You can tell this model is gonna have some funny centering issues just because of the micarta w/o liners, but nothing worse than what happens on the LW models. Overall much better feel than the LW thanks to PB washers and much more comfortable scales, but not giving up much weight, still feels super light for a knife this size. Action will definitely need a bit of breaking in; not feeling anything gritty, helps to add a drop of Nano-Oil to the lock face area. Overall feels worth the wait so far.
Sal, please make one with ss liners!

Re: Chief Crucarta
I’m curious if the micarta Chief is constructed in the same way as the micarta N5, with those mini-nested liners for the pivots. I assume so… I think that is a smart design choice, to provide rigidity and implement a reinforced D-hole. I found this photo on another group.

I don't plan to tear mine apart to confirm, but shining a bright light in there it appears to have something like that in that area.

It's for sure the next one on the list, but my knife budget is currently tied up in mountain bikes. Perhaps a birthday present to myself before the end of the year.
Unless, that is, they drop the Curcarta Bodacious...
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Re: Chief Crucarta
Mine arrived.
The scales are as thick as my CF and G10 versions, and it has minimal flex. Nothing to worry about here, it is solid. Smooth action and centered too.
I like the amount of grip. It is not aggressive like peel-ply G10, but textured enough to give a good amount of traction. It feels great in hand. Even better after I chamfered it with a file.
The micarta was very light beige and "powdery" out of the box. I would have preferred it to be a bit darker to be honest. It looks just fine after a bit of oil (Ballistol).

I've been eye balling the Chief and this crucarta version might be it. It's becoming available in Europe!
