Sadly the OP hasn't signed back in the past week. Likely just wanted to vent and left. Not sure what it accomplished for him, but whatever works for you fella!

I think most here know better. Have to remember that this forum, or extended family, is really a very small universe.

Hopefully he came back to read, and learn.

Everyone's responses to my post are equally hysterical and ridiculous. You people are defending this company like its one of your children. I am not exactly sure where I came of angry and I don't have some sort of PTSD from killing babies in Nam either. Spyderco is out of stock on most knives that are black - on their website as of todays date - I can get those knives on other websites. This isn't a conspiracy theory, this is a fact. I wasn't trying to start an argument with a bunch of strangers (you knife nerds are the worst by the way). But thanks anyway for engaging in an otherwise meaningless conversation amongst each other while ridiculing a person you don't know anything about. I have clearly hit a nerve and have made dozens of people cry themselves to sleep at night from nothing more than a random thought. - you people are truly the ones with no lives.

I don’t know anything about the OP and I normally wouldn’t comment (breathe life into) on a thread like this. I do know about serving one’s country and community. A quote from Mahatma Gandhi sums it up far better than I ever could - “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
It is disappointing the OP comes across with a sense of entitlement when it comes to discounts from a company (Spyderco) who is under no obligation to give any discount. But choose to do so out of respect for those who do serve.
As a non US member of this community, I have no entitlement to the OpFocus Program. It doesn’t stop me from buying Spyderco. In fact it encourages me to do so because I admire the respect Spyderco shows to people who serve.

Hi Johnnyd,

Thanx for coming back and sharing your thoughts..

Spyderco ships tens of thousands of knives every month, so anything in stock today, may not be in stock tomorrow. I can assure you that we do not plan to be out of stock on anything, and if we had our way, we would never run out of anything.

Sorry for your disappointment. You might try calling the store and speak with one the crew to see just what is and is not available?

But to say/accuse the company of deliberately skimping on certain products so the SAS (Save And Serve community) folks are not able to get them is, perhaps rather insulting. Why would we go through all of the time, effort and cost to set up such a program and intentionally not deliver?

I am one of the founders of the company, the CEO and President of the company, and I can personally assure you that we do not hold stock back, especially for the SAS community that we have always respected and supported from the beginning. In fact, we keep some models in the line, even through sales are slow, because they are specifically made for the SAS community.

Perhaps you might open your mind a bit, and hang around here and you might find that the group here are bright, respectful and willing to share thought. You came in with your guns blazing, why are you surprised that some might shoot back?

Thank you for your service.

sal

you never did say which models you were looking for after we linked you to a bunch of black models in stock.

your reaction here is strange. I hope the rest of your week goes better.

Maybe try asking for assistance by stating the knife you're trying to purchase through the SAS program.

I wasn't waiting with bated breath for the straight razor, but if it's called the Occam I'm automatically a buyer.
