Spyderco totally playing some shell game to avoid selling knives at a discount. There’s no way they could just reduce the discount if they wanted to.

Spyderco is a small company with limited capacity. They do runs of knives and then on to something else. When the first sells out, it goes in the queue to be made, again. So, if it is out of stock, just wait.

i think the point is, while conspiracy theories exist because conspiracies exist, a little bit of critical thinking goes a long way and it's not typically a tool utilized by people that engage deeply with conspiracy theories. conspiracy theories allow the laziest of thinkers to believe they are somehow smarter than everyone else.

So far the only Spyderco conspiracy I've seen is that they put out so many neat knives everytime I say this is the last one it's not.

The real conspiracy is Spyderco’s refusal to make me a Military 2 with OCP scales, the Army hasn’t worn digicam ACU’s in almost 10 years.

My only complaint about Spyderco is that I stopped buying knives years ago, and have been quite content. But they keep coming out with models (or more versions of my favorite models) that I still would like to have. Then they have the audacity to have a forum where people discuss these models to make me want them more. They're doing it to ME on purpose!

"Just when I thought I was out, they're trying to pull me back in."

Main character syndrome.

I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time. Thank you for your service.

While I don’t know what you did in the service, and I’m guessing most or all here don’t know, it does help me pause and just consider an attitude of grace and understanding. A lot of people sit down to some sort of screen and due to being anonymous attack and ridicule. Any cultural norms of politeness or understanding go out the window.

I understand that persistent post concussion syndrome and TBI have a lot of similarities. I was in a severe car accident in June and suffered a severe concussion. Due to the number of concussions I’ve had I’ve been told I have persistent post concussion syndrome which can take months to years to recover from. One of the symptoms is going from ok to rage in an instant for little or no reason. While none of us know if this is what you are going through I also understand many things in life can also increase anger reactions.

I’m sorry you are angry. But please be patient and give Spyderco a chance. I’m sorry you’ve been judged and ridiculed here. Politeness and understanding seem to be in short supply in the current world and community.

One thing I know that is advised by therapists is stepping away or avoiding social media at times and for certain issues. I think I myself need to do this even though it’ll feel like I’ve lost part of my community and or family. I hope your days get better 123Johnnyd smile it helps sometimes.

“Out of stock on purpose” is an interesting premise, but it isn’t supported by facts. There’ve been many good points, but I’ll reiterate one and bring up another:

When Spyderco does not want to discount a knife, they don’t. It’s that simple. Example: the recent 15V sprint runs. There is no discount on them. While I was initially disappointed, I managed to purchase one for a reduced price anyway, as could the OP.

As has been said, the company is under no obligation to discount anything. That they do so is a wonderful benefit, and I am very grateful for it.
Oldest: 1974 Buck 110.
Newest: Manix 2 LW, CPM 15V
Knives owned: Too many, yet always finding another.
Added a ceramic mug, "The Edge is a Ghost". Great mug!

Although Spyderco offers a significant discount to military, I believe they purposely do not stock their most popular production models so that veterans cannot benefit from the discount. They would sell too many at a discount. That’s why there isn’t a single black knife on their website that’s in stock. Also, these are all readily available from other distributors, just not from the company who makes them. Thanks for nothing Spyderco.
This is a childish way of addressing what you think is an issue. One that you also seem to have zero evidence of. Why not do the legwork first if you think its something the community should know?
