Spyderco.com Payment Options (PLEASE READ)

#1

Post by TazKristi »

Hey, everyone:
You might have noticed the announcement on our website, but in case not, I wanted to share it here before tomorrow's Mule Team release.

"Due to a temporary technical issue with our standard payment processor, all transactions are currently limited to PayPal or Sezzle. Our team is working diligently to restore full payment functionality as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this time."

Unfortunately, our payment processor experienced an unforeseen technical issue with a security update last week. This is an issue beyond our control. They are doing all they can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

You do NOT need to have a PayPal account to place an order. You can go through the checkout process through PayPal as a guest, and your credit card will be charged just the same as always.

Does the Venmo option work as well? Or are we best off using Paypal?

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully you don’t have a nightmare on your hands with your processor, ie they were compromised and now doing damage control. Otherwise if they did an update that takes down their system they just need to roll it back with a back up of their system before the update, takes a few minutes. Good luck hope it’s not the worst case scenario.

Thanks Kristi. I always forget that PayPal processes credit cards too.

It should work the same, but you'll need a Venmo account.

Not the worst case scenario. :) It's a little bit more difficult than rolling back. It's a security update that went amok, but it's an important one to get into place. The timing isn't great, but it's best for everyone.

It's good to hear nothing is worse than putting out an email saying you lost everyone's info. That patch is important to keep the worst case from happening. Thanks again, I am sure it will all go smooth.

Newest: MagnaMax MT46P & MT46S
Knives owned: Too many, yet always finding another.

I know a lot of people are opposed to using Paypal, but all went well and smooth for this MagnaMax release. Was teetering on purchasing a MM MT, but went ahead and did so, as I feel the fixed blade format is the best way to get a taste of a steel.

Superb job on the revamp, Spyderco.

I've used PP for years, it speeds up checkout so much I really think it's part of why I've never missed a single drop that I wanted.

PayPal worked so well that I hope you continue to offer it as a payment option for all future order transactions.
