Titanium Liners.
Titanium Liners.
Any chance these will ever be offered? I would be happier to pay sprint run premiums for TI liners more than a new steel to be honest, would go a very long way in weight reduction especially when paired with aftermarket scales.
Re: Titanium Liners.
There have been models with titanium liners but they're usually more of the high end collaboration models and not variants of popular Spyderco designs. I think if weight savings are your goal you'd probably drop more with aftermarket scales that delete the non lock side liner altogether. I have titanium Bodacious scales like this but the weight savings were pretty negligible, this idea probably has more cool factor than practically.

Considering the way Spyderco usually skeletonizes their liners, I doubt you'd save enough weight going titanium to make up for the increased likelihood of stripped screw holes.

Yes, and I might add that the cost would be significantly more. That would hurt sales.

The call is coming from inside the house.

Re: Titanium Liners.
Titanium is lighter than steel, but not THAT much.
If you're interested in weight reduction to an extreme, there are lots of linerless Spyderco products.

There was some momentum a minute ago to bring back the C-159 Air. Don't know what happened to that effort, but I sure hope there's still some chance it will happen.
Titanium liners right there. And the weight shouldn't bother anyone.

Re: Titanium Liners.
As others have said, with the liners being skeletonized it'd have to be a pretty big knife for any weight savings to be noticeable. Personally I'd rather see more LC200N liners or coated liners (looking at you, Police LW), but I'm much more motivated by corrosion resistance.
Re: Titanium Liners.
I think the advantage would be not having to skeletonize the liners and still get the weight loss. Less crevices means it stays clean and rinses out easier.
