I suggest we discuss a new forum knife

Edited

Let’s go with what we prefer. List maybe 3 options. Be open to suggestions and if you don’t see one you like then suggest the knives you’d want. If we get lucky something comes out of it if not we gave some ideas and who knows maybe in the future….

- My ideas have change due to positive and not so positive feedback. But hey it all helped me come up with an edited 3 suggestions

So here’s my 3
1. Lil Native SE Wharncliffe slipjoint with red and black Zome FRN scales. Magnamax steel.

2. A PSK fixed blade knife made of Damasteel. Just put forum knife and the year on it if it ends up being a future mule. Or the option to have that laser engraved on the mule.

3. Native Chief with 3V and FRN scales to keep the price down

Why would it be contentious?

If we get another forum knife, forum input will probably have little to nothing to do with it. ;)

Whatever model they choose, it is necessary that the knife has “Spyderco Forum” and the year physically represented on it somewhere. Otherwise it’s not a forum knife.

There was a thread not too long ago concerning another Forum knife . I agree with Nick totally up to Spyderco what model will be chosen and when it will be offered . I look forward to the next offering. MG2

I've never had a Forum knife, so I'd be interested in whatever model and configuration Spyderco comes up with.

I’m down for another! Maybe a forum Delica is order or perhaps Spyderco can early release an existing upcoming model with forum engraving. It would be like a feedback group. Then you cross post a thread for those people’s feedback.

Wow I thought this pot stirring subject would ignite more chatting than this. I’ve only eaten a small portion of the 🍿 I popped. Going to have to look up the CO4 executive.

Here’s my three choices:

Chaparral.
Magnacut.
G10.

No need for special engraving, writing, mincing around with fancy handles and all that silly BS we usually endure. Combine those three what you’ll get is a solid, high-performing, low maintenance knife which cuts stuff well.

"Forum knives" literally aren't forum knives unless "forum" is denoted somewhere on the knife. :grin-squint

You can tell it's a forum knife because it's going to be Magnacut.

I recall last time this was brought up a lot of people were hoping it would be something our overseas members could enjoy like the UK Penknife. Maybe the new Metropolitan in Spy27 with Blue FRN or G10?

Yeah I was pushing to go with the UKPK just so those overseas could participate. I live in Washington State where we don’t have as many rules against knives. But I’ve always hated when a knife company has an enter to win knife contest and it’s an automatic. Automatics are banned in Washington State so that automatically rules me out for entry. So I tried to be as inclusive as possible.

Now I’m open to pretty much anything just in hopes we can get one done. That and I really want a damasteel or 3V. Sigh just kidding, not kidding 🤪

I would be up for one, just keep cost reasonable, I don’t want to spend $300 on a knife that would be more of a collectible.

Off topic: does anyone else find it weird at how much attention 3V is all-of-a-sudden receiving? :face monocle :spiral-eyes :exploding-head

On topic: I'd be up for a forum knife if it were a full sized C54 Calypso in ZDP-189 with a British Racing Green linen micarta handle and screw construction. :smirk

This is actually a brilliant idea. IMO.

Not only is it carry legal in more/most regions, but being a completely new model I expect there is also more interest for this knife outside countries/jurisdictions with strikter laws. Given this, it's probably a model that's already on a lot of forum members "to buy" or "consider buying" lists, which would allow more members to acquire a forum knife without having to justify owning more than one version of a knife to be a proud owner of a forum knife.

For optimal feasibility the ida should be acted upon rather quickly, before too many members get around to ordering the regular production Metropolitan.
I'm indeed one of those that have it on my list, just waiting for the right opportunity. I'm also one of those who have a hard time justifying a knife just because it's a forum knife, so this could be a nicely timed opportunity for me and likeminded members to commit to a forum knife.

It's just evidence that most people don't actually know what they want and they just follow the latest trend. :cheap-sunglasses (Blade steel seems to be especially plagued by this.)
